SWG install cancelled because I have a stainless steel filte

I can't answer your question, but one thing that everyone needs to realize is that the term "stainless steel" composes a very large group of alloys. I don't even know if that term has a real definition. There are probably 100 or more SS "recipes". Some of the most common are 316SS, 410SS...

Hooray for JASON LION (Your pool's MVP)

Jason, I haven't taken the trouble to read exactly who you are, or what you do, but I sure appreciate your input on this forum. Almost every thread that is beyond picnic table selection, or which floatie color to choose, where opinions are all over the place... we can ccount on JASON LION to...

    Got GRAY ?? (plaster)

This is an old thread that I never finished, and I've had a few people ask what color we decided on, and also to see some pics. Maybe the most interesting thing is that lots of us look at pics to make our decision with, and of course, the pics can vary greatly with the light at that given...

why is my toenail polish chipping???????

i, too, hate to chip in on this topic, but hey... just trying to help. Just out of curiosity, I just went and let my feet soak in my swg'd pool for about 30 minutes... no chipping so far. MidTnGal... feel free to come let your toes soak in my pool (as long as you deem neccesary)... let's see...

A little miffed and some concerns

lulu, hang in there... i would very uneducatedly guess that somewhere well over 50% of all pool builds are very unprofessional, and the more you know (which you know too much by being at this site too much,) the more you realize just how wide the gap is from a professional installation. i...

    Easytouch Remote Holster

nope... but if you come up with one, I'll take one too. it's an awkward kinda remote that doesn't fit easily anywhere, huh? the only place it seems comfortable is in your hands, which is nice unless you need your hands for something else.

do all couples fight about pool maintenance?

Looks like you're getting plenty of good advice, so I'll only address the question on fighting... I had been reading BBB stuff for about a year, and this site for a little less as we built our pool. My wife has a MS in Chemistry, and is a supervisor over a laboratory at a pretty large oil...

    Belldiver's Pool Build

Jim, Lookin grrrreat!! This is the first chance that I've had to log onto this site in months, and I'm glad to see that you've been able to progress right along (without me.) Best of all, without the middlemen, who would only slow you down, cost you money, and allow more screw-ups. Best of...

    Professional method for pump installation

FWIW, my pump was unprofessionally installed by a supposed professionals. they didn't bolt it down, and based on their other work, I could almost guarantee you that if they had, they would've screwed it up. anyway... I've got 4x160, and it is so quiet and vibration-free that I really think...

    Pool Pump Flow-Meter Installation

thanks for flowmeter info! Good info, Dave... thanks for sharing; I've been running mine on 2250 rpm for 5 hours/day since the weather has cooled off... and my pool/spa is a little larger than yours, so based on your information... I'd guess that I"m pretty close to one turnover a day too...

    Purging the filter?

Hi Cajunlance... thanks for the opportunity to say.... hope you didn't use Professional Pools, Inc. owned by Ken Corner out of Duson, LA. I did, and I wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy (or anyone else.) These are some good folks here that will be glad to help you much. One thing that...

Polaris Tail squirts out a lot of water.

For various reasons that I don't feel like rehashing, at the end of my job, my pb ended up calling out American Leak Detectors just to "prove me wrong", basically. I hadn't even said that there was a leak, but my pb was trying to do pressure test that he couldn't get to hold... so he called...

Sounds unlikely to me... but many things in life are surprising... One way to find out.... turn it off.

PH Testing Question - slightly off topic

I think before you could push them too far, you would still have to present them with a 3rd party test. its not terribly uncommon to have different answers... especially when one party wants them to lean a certain way... Find out what lab they use, then find another one to do a test for you...

    Price of water

Dave, The month we filled our pool, our bill was about $90, which is about twice the normal. of course, this water came straight out of the sewerage too. we wouldn't dream of swimming in anything other than sewer whater. wouldn't need chlorine if we didn't right? steve

    First Time Cleaning Cartridge Filter

Dave I cleaned my filter (same filter as yours).... I didn't use any silicon, but I did tighten/tap/tighten/tap, etc.... it worked. Of course, I did this AFTER my pb's pseudo-plumber had assembled it (and it was leaking.) I guess you're quallified to be a plumber for Louisiana'a Ken Corner's...

    ok... just some more numbers...

Thanks Jason, my typo... CC is 0.5 I'll just let the TA slide down on its own then. I run my pump/swcg about 7 hours a day (3pm - 10 pm), and I did my testing right before it clicked on, so I guess I tested it right at its lowest point. I usually do my ph/cl test in the morning, but admit to...

    Check-valve between heater and SWG

I don't know the right answer... but I noticed that my pb initially didn't have one installed (for over a month), but the day before the pentair factory rep was to show up, he installed one. Not sure exactly what that meant. i would guess there's only about 12" of pipe between my heater and...

    Pool water features

hi diver.... i'm in baton rouge, and i would highly recommend a few deck jets, which you can use to cool your pool in july and august. just make sure all of your water features have their own lines, and valves at the equipment pad, so you can turn them on/off, and fine tune them.... so you can...

    Question on Spa Spill Over

ok... mine is so ugly, i never had even taken a pic.... so i just went out there in the dark and took one. my suction lines are on the left, returns on the right... most have ball valves (with gray handles) on them, the deck jets and cleaner booster pump have red handles... not a big deal to...

    Question on Spa Spill Over

absolutely helps... your fix is just a matter of few ball valves (what else would you expect to hear from a valve salesman?) seriously, every one of those pipes going in (and coming out of) the ground needs its own ball valve. that way you can tune each component virtually perfectly. ball...
