New pool owner trying to understand test strip reading

Look at the TF-Pro Salt instead of the TF-100 Salt. The Pro Salt comes with the stirring device, which makes testing so kuch easier and more accurate. Or get the TF-100 Salt and add the stirring device.

Why did they do it this way?

A check valve before the SWG is not needed as no chlorine is being produce if there is no flow with the pump is off. If you will be installing a heater, you'd be better served plumbing in a proper heater bypass - which will use a 3-way Jandy valve and a quality check valve. Changing the way...

Localised itching on back - from the jets?

Chances are if the PoolLab is matching test strips that the PoolLab accuracy is suspect as well. Test strips are unreliable. The comparison you are relying on is actually that all 3 are close, not actually accurate.

Localised itching on back - from the jets?

How old is your PoolLab 2? Might be a good idea to test it against a standard to be sure it's correctly calibrated. If your CYA is actually 50, you are safe to have the FC at 20 (SLAM level for CYA 50). You should be testing and dosing FC prior to entering the water. And also dose after use...

For the outlet - be sure it's GFCI protected. And replace the cover with an "in-use" cover (will protect from water intrusion when the outlet is in use). https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hubbell-TayMac-1-Gang-Rectangle-Metal-Weatherproof-Electrical-Box-Cover/50413052...

    What Is This?

The Red handled ball valve controls the flow to the DekClor. The more water flow into the DekClor, the faster the tabs will dissolve. I always have water flowing thru mine - even though I don't use tabs any longer. We recommend liquid chlorine over tablets. Tablets add CYA (stabilizer). Being...

Moved to a new house with pool

You would need to use a skimmer plate. You can not connect the vac hose directly to the skimmer suction port as the venturi parts are in the way of fully accessing the suction port. Turn off the valve that sends water to the QuikSkim as well. Leave the skimmer basket in the skimmer. You will...

    filter o-ring lubricant?

No and no You don't want liquid - the ones mentioned in post #3 and #4 are more of a paste type consistency. Think extra thick tooth paste. You will also need it for any other O-rings on your pool equipment.... pump lid O-ring, pump drain O-rings, diverter valves, etc. The 5oz tube will last...

Looking for recommendations of SWG upgrade

Look at the Circupool RJ30+ Many members here use the Circupool RJ series. I'm 3 years in with my RJ45+ in my 12.3k gallon pool without issue. We recommend a SWG that is at least 2x your pool volume.

    First time opening pool

Most of the time when a pool with an IFCS is winterized, the lines to the infloor popup lines are also blown out. Plugs similar to the pic Allen @ajw22 posted are placed in the water distribution valve when the IFCS lines areblown out.. Post a pic of the inside of your water distribution valve.

    Salt water generator setting

It depends on your testing results, pool size, pump run time and SWG size. Every pool is different. You will need to test FC and adjust the SWG for your pool's needs. How are you testing? Which test kit?

    What Is This?

Likely an A&A Dek-Chlor - an in-deck tablet feeder. There should be a 3/4" valve at your equipmemt pad to regulate the water flow. If you intend to use it, use only 3" trichlor tablets. The nipple in the center has 2 holes in it to allow water to flow out. The standpipe allows water to...

Need diagnosis - SLAM not helping

You have the Taylor K2006 (sometimes referred to as K2006A). It has the small 0.75 oz bottles. You will likely run out of at least the key reagents in less than one pool season if you are testing regularly. I'd suggest ordering a K2006C refill kit from Refill Sets Or at least the R-0870, R-0871...

I'm in Chandler as well. My garage can get to over 105 degrees during the day in the middle of summer. My MA is stored outside in a small plastic deck box (away from the pool and metal). My liquid chlorine is stored in my indoor laundry room. I store 4 gallon jugs in the plastic bucket they...

    PebbleTec Calcium Deposit

No need to add borax to raise your pH of 7.0 - your highTA will cause the pH to rise. If you want, you can aerate to raise pH a bit quicker. Let pH rise it 7.8, then lower to 7.2 to help lower your TA - rinse, repeat. What is the pH, TA and CH of your fill water?
