New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

Just jump on the $799 Evo price. It's hard to imagine anything better anywhere close to this price. You must get the fine filter though - another $50. It is a huge difference what it will pick up. I'm a bit disappointed to think that the robots avg lifespan is 5 years as most say...

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

Very interesting - Marina doesn't show to sell the 8642iq, but it may be the reason the EVO 614iq is on sale. They may be liquidating inventory. The two robots look very much alike when you compare their operating parts - just a different shell. I will try not to have any regrets if I just...

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

Excited to see my new 614iq had a firmware update today (maybe it had been there since I got it last weekend - I didn't have notifications turned on), but does Aqua / Evo list their features and updates for each release? I've scoured their web site and missed it if they do. The control box...

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

Interesting, but I believed since the power center and my phone are both on wifi that would be fast communication as long as they are connected, and both are, regardless of where you are in relation to the device. Then it sends the commands down the power cable to the robot, which also I...

Aqua Evo vs Prowler (Dolphin) - Help me choose

Thank you @Jimrahbe - based on your info and the input by others, I went with the Evo 614iq as well. The first use has impressed me - for reference to others that might some day find this thread, first review is here - New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

Another first day positive review for the 614iq First - the pool was more of a mess than I realized. I knew it was dirty, but I hadn't done anything to it in about 3 weeks, back before our cold snap and 9 degree weather. However, both skimmer baskets had floated (rarely happens in this...

Aqua Evo vs Prowler (Dolphin) - Help me choose

Thought I'd start a thread vs risk taking over another one like the great review thread for the Evo - New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review I read the first 5 pages and the last 5 pages of this thread for info. Current situation - 30 by 15 pool, 5' depth, with a sun ledge starting its 10th...

Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

Where have you found a Home Depot with stock? The couple I have checked, Far North Dallas/Plano, have none and they've taken inventory off their web completely, won't even let you see who carries the product, just says check with the store. I found some at Lowe's on Preston last week, but...

Reviving out of service pool: FG & deck Refresh

I also turn the pump on high to empty my skimmer baskets, just keeps everything in them and makes it easy. I do not turn the pump off during the process. It can make it a little heavy to lift out from the suction, but never enough to break a basket. Also if they are real full I skim out...

    Converting Trichlor to Liquid Chlorine

If you go Stenner - like everything else, overdo it. I went with the 100 PSI and #2 tube. The duckbill will clog after a couple of years (I took it out and cleaned it with acid) and you want to replace your tubing every year, including the tube inside the pump, just to keep it all working...

    Converting Trichlor to Liquid Chlorine

No - I like the logic and just had not mentioned that I actually feed my chlorine in 2 different times during the day trying to smooth out the peak and valley of a single dosing. Spreading it out more would be nice, but Pentair has a max number of timers I can run. My typical summer day is...

    Converting Trichlor to Liquid Chlorine

The Stenner guys are good and there is one that used to even visit and post here on the forum. I'm likely just old school and believe the less a motor runs the longer it might last so I didn't want to run one at all times. I also vary my pool pump throughout the year. Winter maybe only 6...

    Converting Trichlor to Liquid Chlorine

I bought a 45mphp10 from Lockwell.com - one of the better prices I found a few years back. I wanted one I didn't have to overwork for the amount of chlorine I needed. During the summer I average 30 to 40 minutes a day as I adjust it through out the season. I've done testing with mine and...

    Converting Trichlor to Liquid Chlorine

Update - forgot about my spreadsheet - it looks like I've been using about 28 oz per day during the hot summer months. I dial it back during the months it isn't as hot as we don't burn off near as much. PS - the link to my write up is in my signature. And after seeing your reply - we stay...

    Converting Trichlor to Liquid Chlorine

Rough estimate looking at my purchase records it looks like I've bought and used about 44 gallons of chlorine January to current. That is 10% and costs about $4/ gallon at Home Depot. My pool is about 11K gallons in TX so pretty good heat and sun in the summer. I use a Stenner pump and...

    Stenner tubing maintenance

My duckbill has been more problematic than the tubing. I think I've replaced the tube inside the pump twice and the black tubing once or twice. However the duckbill continues to clog with "crystalized" chlorine. I've run an ice pick through it a couple of times and this last time just laid...

    LED Landscape lights

Check out Atomi lights. Costco carries some of their products. They have pathway/landscape as well as rope/string lights - both have full color control from a smartphone app. I've not used these, but it will give you color options.

Dallas Pool Build **update with final pool pics**

If it wasn't specified up front and they are just trying to avoid the trenching then stick to your guns. They will cut every corner, but you will look at it and see it every day.

What did you do to your pool today?

Very nice. I like the lighting where you placed it - great way to see the equipment without being blinded at night. I have to say though, would you share a pic of your pool? The sheer number of pipes and valves coming out of the ground is astounding.

Dallas Pool Build **update with final pool pics**

Sorry to say, this sounds like a typical pool build most anywhere, especially Dallas. We built almost 6 years ago and had major delays due to rain. It was still completed in about 6 months however. I don't have a lot to add other than from one of your very first posts, I'm 99% sure there was...

Any risk in running pump in 10 degree weather without a heater?

A question for the long term pool pros - what is the potential damage to plaster from freezing temps (or even the other extreme - heat) that is not covered by water? I was able to manually control my automated valves to circulate water in both pool and spa at all times. However the timer on...

Any risk in running pump in 10 degree weather without a heater?

Ouch - on the flip side I have a friend from Plano just post these pictures on Facebook. They lost power about 24 hours in and didn't know to do anything to drain the equipment. Just bought the house this summer and had new equipment put in this fall. I didn't think about reaching out to them.
