    rusted bobby pin print

Some of the Vit C tablets are buffered or Estered that lowers acid. I had the same problem and the tablets left a yellow goo/stain on the plaster that I had to scrub off. Some will have a very slick coating. The best to use are "regular" Vit C tablets. gg=alice

I ordered refills for my TFT kit today and just couldn't resist any longer. I tried but it kept appearing in my cart. gg=alice

SWG pros and cons for AGP

    7. Not having to deal with recycling so many bottles. 8. Not having to suffer the guilt of using so many containers even though you recycle. It takes energy to collect and transport the stuff and to repurpose it; although it does provide jobs for people. gg=alice

    Polaris 380 vacuum...OR Something else??

Grandmas ain't what they used to be; well a lot aren't. And I'll bet that not many acid wash their pools in 100+ temps. A little hint.... I had to really clean up my "act" and mind my P's and Q's when I attended Baylor University Nursing School (Southern Baptist) in the early 90's. I was a...

spill-over spa: to do or not to do

I was going to add in my previous post that if we had more severe winters we would have considered the little "cabin" that can be closed somewhat in bad weather or opened quite a bit in warm weather. The two main reasons we didn't get it is that it would have blocked the view of our woods and...

spill-over spa: to do or not to do

I'm going to have to agree. We've had a stand alone spa for 24 years; three different ones, last one purchased in 2002, our favorite. The first one came with the house, was pretty old, so we replaced it pretty quickly. Our spa is always ready to use year round, cost very little to heat and...

    Polaris 380 vacuum...OR Something else??

I really don't mean to be argumentative and only wanting to get the correct information out to people. Many of the fine filter/gather bags made for the robots can filter debris < 5 microns. Sand and cartridge filters don't filter down that small. The finest filter you can get for a Polaris...

    Polaris 380 vacuum...OR Something else??

Well, again, my Aquabot goes all over the pool and up the walls, moving much more water than a Polaris 280 can. When my Aquabot is in the 10 ft deep end there is a disturbance on the surface of the water from the huge powerful blast of water coming out the top. My and other Polaris 280s have two...

    Red eyes!?!?

The pH in my pool, 7-7.2 doesn't bother my eyes nor my dog's eyes at all. As far as my skin and eyes I'm a very blond, very delicate flower. Just about everything irritates my skin and eyes but my pool water doesn't. I've had spas for 24 years. I've used chlorine or bromine for sanitation...

    Polaris 380 vacuum...OR Something else??

Well my old Aquabot circulates and filters about 3K gallon an hour. That's a lot of water movement. Some of the newer faster robots can do 4K + gallons per hour. Not sure about the Pool Rover Jr but lots of people with flat bottoms love them. The bags I use for Aquabot filter virtually as...

Sequestrant HEDP Photodegradation, Iron Copper Scale Removal

Pool is looking very good. Thanks. Minimal clouding; probably clearer than most non-TFP pools but slightly cloudy for my pool. Copper is continuing to lighten. I haven't brushed since first time. Calcium is still releasing in quantity. My filter pressure rises enough in less than 48 hours that...

    Polaris 380 vacuum...OR Something else??

Also, take into consideration what kind of debris and how much will be going into your pool. If there are other pools near you you might want to find out from the owners what they deal with in terms of dust, sand, silt, wind, plant debris, etc. Then with comments from TFP members you'll be armed...

    Skimmer "socks"

I ordered a bunch of other stuff too. That may have been where I got the tires, bearing kits, scrubbers, etc., right before I sold my 280 to my friend for a steal. I don't remember if I did a google search or found them on eBay. My computer is out of commission right now so I can't double check...

    Yikes - Out of Bleach

Just tested. FC 13.5 -powder (so yesterday a.m. drop test of 2 was off - was probably more like 5 but do have a CC of something above .5) CC .5 to 1 pH 7.5-7.8 (would know better when FC a little lower but going to bring it down a little due to the current scale/copper treating) CYA...

    cooling system for new pool?

Edit I just noticed that description says "will not work on Intex pool. I imagine the only issue would involve an adapter at wall fitting. I just ordered a universal Fountain adapter kit mainly because it was $6.xx, free Prime shipping, and I'm really curious about it. I says it won't arrive...

    Yikes - Out of Bleach

 Yeah, and that was the scariest part and I'm out of Magenta waiting for more to arrive. I haven't had time to go out to get sequestrant, any HEDP sequestrant to hold me over will do at this point. gg=alice

    Yikes - Out of Bleach

Thank you. Great information. I got the bleach in around 2100 in a 30-60 minute session. 2.7 182 oz bottles to bring up from 0 to 10 or so. For fear of getting any bleach too close to the pool walls and copper redepositing on them I mixed a few cups at a time into a 3/4 filled 4 gal bucket and...

    Skimmer "socks"

I can't get to my old email right now but I think this is where I ordered a bunch of packages of these. I think the price has come down if so. That's a great price and they are good quality. I like the real skimmer socks better. They seem to catch a lot more of our "microscopic" dust and they...

    Yikes - Out of Bleach

Thank You so very much guys for such a quick answer and the good news. My FC loss hasn't been more than 3 during the day all summer; usually closer to mid way between 2-3. YEA  I usually go a little over the top of range when I add bleach. I'll just add it in three or four...

    Yikes - Out of Bleach

I've been pretty overwhelmed with deadlines and pulled the first of more to come all nighters last night. I tested water a few minutes ago; FC 2. My range with CYA 60 is 5-9. I went out to shed to get the bleach  :( DH forgot to get bleach at Costco yesterday. I know, I should have...

Sequestrant HEDP Photodegradation, Iron Copper Scale Removal

Very quick update. The copper staining has lightened considerably. I mentioned picking up some Jack's Blue; Blue only because I haven't located a place near here that has Magenta. Well there may be one but I'm not going to have time to go to any place so I'm not going to put any in until the...

Sequestrant HEDP Photodegradation, Iron Copper Scale Removal

Thanks for continuing to discuss this. I'm pretty bound up by tax stuff and I have a deadline so I'll probably be doing an all nighter tonight. I do have to take time out to watch the Cowboys' first preseason game but won't be enjoying beer with the pizza. :( I'm keeping some notes. I'm...

Is it Dead? (was Slimebag Sadness...)

Re: Shocking and Alkalinity and now, SLIMEBAG SADNESS! The Aquabot is the older, big brother of the Pool Rover Jr that a lot of above ground people love. It is a robot. There are essentially three type bags for these the fine, cloth, filter bag, and the net leaf bag, and the after market Nasty...

Is it Dead? (was Slimebag Sadness...)

Re: Shocking and Alkalinity and now, SLIMEBAG SADNESS! A couple of things. BTW... I have some work to do so might not get back to the forum for a while. How are you getting your water to the Slime Bag? Is it bypassing your filter? I would think that would be the least hassle. Which size Slime...
