Low PH and high FC which to do first

I've been maintaining FC for last month or two pretty high 7-10 with my SWG. PH for last month has been steady at 7.2 when earlier in the summer I was constantly dumping in acid to get it down. this morning pool is TFP clear and has been for last 2 months after a June SLAM FC 6.0 (lot of...

Vacation for 2 weeks, what setting on the SWG?

Leaving for 2 week vacation and first time pool owner. Been reading various threads on the subject, suggesting getting a tab floater for the pool during that time. Right now I have my SWG at 50%, pump running 24/7 and maintaining FC around 5-7 (CYA at 50). Should I just bump up the SWG to...

Advice needed on bubblers for sun ledge

we have two bubblers (our ledge is smaller than your planned one) and can turn each individually up to 4' high or just an inch or two. We keep them on all the time to keep the area stirred up. The grandkids love them to play in. We like the sound as we sit on the screened porch.

    Fiberglass ledges sound hollow

we had our fiberglass installed last fall with steps and a large baja ledge. Backfilled with pea gravel. They took a lot of time with a big leaf blower to blow pea gravel under the steps and ledge and the bigger guys kept bouncing on top of the steps and ledge to make sure there were no flexing...

Muriatic Acid Pool store 31%, Lowes at 30% and 1/2 the price

My local Lowes only has the Kleen stuff. Local Menards has the same Kleen but its special order. Neither on their website show any pool acid. I just opened new pool last month and have been buying the acid at the pool store just because I was in there for other stuff. I'll surf the isles of...

Muriatic Acid Pool store 31%, Lowes at 30% and 1/2 the price

So Lowes has Kleen Strip Green Muriatic Acid Concrete Etch at 30% for 1/2 the price of my pool store $20 vs $10 for a gallon. 31% vs 30%. Anything in the Lowes gallon I should stay clear of for a pool. I go through about a gallon every 2 weeks trying to keep PH down.

SW pool clear all spring, now just a touch cloudy

The photo makes it blue, its really snow white. BTW I did a calcium hardness test yesterday and it was 350. still SLAMing. FC was 22 this morning and we had an inch of rain last night added to the pool so will try another overnight loss test tonight.

10-4, prior to SLAM my calcium numbers were lower(150) than the target range of 300.

here are photos of the white stuff in the robot basket and on the ground when I washed the basket out. And yes the white stuff fizzled when I poured a little acid on it.

will do. Robot picking up the flakes right now. Fizzle means what? I know I have extreme high phosphates, 2230. since last year but have not addressed that. Seems like TFP does not get to worried about high phosphates.

SW pool clear all spring, now just a touch cloudy

morning, noon and 8 at night. I just dumped another 70 oz of shock per pool math to bring FC from 12 up to 20 for today. Is the white flakes dead crud??

SW pool clear all spring, now just a touch cloudy

Still loosing about 2 ppm of FC overnight (14 down to 12) so I guess I continue the SLAM and get the FC back up closer to 20 today. Water looks pretty good, but I see white flaky stuff on the bottom this morning

SW pool clear all spring, now just a touch cloudy

Great, thanks for all your help on doing my first SLAM. Pool will be crowded this Saturday with the whole family so I know to keep the FC up pretty high ahead of time.

SW pool clear all spring, now just a touch cloudy

just about there. Water is pretty clear now. Last night did the overnight test, SWG off and cover off. Went from 15 down to 13 give or take. So I dumped in another 1/2 gal of shock at 8 this morning. Back up to 15 this noon. Will see how tonight goes. Someone else asked how safe to at...

SW pool clear all spring, now just a touch cloudy

One other question. I never turned off my SWG, its still running at 80%. I assumed that during SLAM, no harm in letting it run. Although I can see It might give a false reading of how much chlorine is lost overnight making it seem like less is lost. Off or on?

SW pool clear all spring, now just a touch cloudy

FC was down to 15 this morning so 2-3 ppm was consumed during the night. So I dumped in another 1/2 gal of shock. I know, don't sweat the suds, but here is a pic after I opened the cover this morning, also shows the water cloudy.
