    Descale-it for Glass Tile Haze?

Has anyone used or know if it is effective to use Descale-it to remove haze on glass tile? We have a spa spillover that gets grimy from all of the splash and water trickle. We've used diluted MA but I'm not a huge fan of working with that stuff for routine maintenance and cleaning. Leslie's...

Same. My PB was strict about 30 days. One of the very few things they were firm about.

Vegas OB! Just got plans back and need some feedback (pics included :) )

Sweet! Check your water meter just before you start so you will know exactly how many gallons your pool is. Also, once it gets filling you should get a sense of how long it takes to fill an inch or other increment (6") so you can estimate how long your fill will take. Especially so this twice to...

Vegas OB! Just got plans back and need some feedback (pics included :) )

I'm happy for you Big Willy Style! You went big instead of going home! Can't wait to see it finished. Do they sprinkle or mix beads and shells? They mixed my black Quartz but looks like beads and shells got hand tossed?

Glad to hear! Did you have to tell the PB that or was that their plan?

    Northlake, TX New Pool Build

I have to share my green fill freak out! This was with the refinish. I almost had a heart attack when it was so much greener than the first time. I was feeling some real "refinishers remorse"!

New plaster application problem? I would like your opinion..

Sorry to see you dealing with this. You can also see the drip streaks from the returns. They most likely didn't plug them with sponges and water dropped slowly during fill. I would be frustrated if I were you, but it does come with the territory with a dye based Quartz finish. Mottling is one...

Nice will! Did they grout the tile or leave the voids to be filled with the plaster? If grout, are you comfortable it will blend well with the finish colors you are deciding between? Have you made that decision yet? It's time!

    Northlake, TX New Pool Build

You can tell that there is a certain group of TFP builders that are all wired the same way. You, me, Will, Shantelly, etc are all new blood in that group...

I feel ya. I wanted to avoid our under construction pool for a while. It was too much frustration and stress. But once they get that finish on the shell, the sun starts shining again! Literally...

Yes it's while the pump is on. It's a backwash valve that redirects water from filter to an open pvc pipe. Here is a pic before they redid our pad, but it gives you an idea.

    Water pups?

Yup! Our dog is obsessed. 100 lb golden retriever/lab mix. The only problem is he swims towards the humans and his nails are water weapons! For us it's mostly the hair that's an issue. Doubling up the hairnets at the skimmer when it's doggie day.

There is a ball valve at our filter/pump. A plastic drain hose is attached. Roll out the hose, open it up and let it rip!

South Florida Pool & Outdoor Living - STARTUP PHASE

Insane amount of rain and it is expected to continue through the weekend here. The bright side is that all of our landscape has held up with zero debris getting to the deck or pool. Our channel deck drain has been overflowing though which is creating a good amount of water build up in the...

South Florida Pool & Outdoor Living - STARTUP PHASE

Kim, yes it's a possibility but would be some work including taking up about 4 feet of our travertine. I think the problem would still be that it's only a 1-1.5" line vs the 3-4" typical overflow lines in the side of the pool shell. It's really not a big issue for us tho, it's super easy to...

No. We have a 1" skimmer knockout that drains to the gravel under the pool shell. It doesn't do us any good given how wet our soil here is in SFL. It always backs up. That is one of the things I would have changed if I knew more about it - a real overflow line and an auto fill.

Thank you! I haven't really shared a good shot of the landscaping. But we are very happy with how it came out. The Mexican pebble wasn't cheap but was a nice touch.

As Brian once pointed out, I'm sure I've paid for it somehow ;) we've been very fortunate that the decking drains appropriately away from the pool. Nearly zero debris, soil or dirt.

    Small pool, NorCal

Nice design! The slope also caught my attention. A 2' drop over 15' is going to feel steep IMO. For mostly standing in a social pool, it may actually feel lopsided. You're right tho, with your length of actual pool, you may not be a great candidate for a typical sports pool profile, especially...

Yea I believe code is 5-10 feet in most places. We are within that but they do not directly overhang water. We strung them in such a way that we can easily take them down in bad winds and storms. We also had a separate gfi and light switch added for these.

South Florida Pool & Outdoor Living - STARTUP PHASE

I believe the code is 10' in most places. Ours is less than that but not directly over water. We have them strung in such a way that we can easily take them down in the event of strong winds or a storm. I highly recommend them. We've had them for years before our pool and they hold up really...

Blue granite vs blue surf Again

All grayish finishes look flat/dull when there is not much water movement. This is most common in French grey, but it does offer a good consistency of color. I believe this to be a big difference maker in the color and sparkle in the different pictures, aside from the other points mentioned. We...
