I can't seem to get the recommended levels.

Hey there - we have the same pool and same test kit! Blue-ish green water + loss of FC = leads me to believe you're running into an algae issue. Get your PH down to 7.2 and start the -or- If you feel it's a fluke, try Do you use the PoolMath app? If so, sync your app account so we can...

    Failed OCLT?

With a CYA of 50 and a FC of 9 - this is GOLDEN! Something I am learning myself - Team Run Hot - at any point you do a test ALWAYS be in range. Your Range is 6-8 on FC. I am losing 1 - 2 ppm per day - so I dose "Hot" to always be in range no matter when I test. Depending what you lose you want...

    Getting New Windows!

This feels like a lie... The only window glass upgrade I did was putting in the tempered glass with a design on the window in my hallway bathroom. I hated having blinds in that bathroom - and this window is (in my opinion) longer than it should be for a bathroom. You can't see out or in but...

Save the Snakes...at least the little harmless ones!

Had no idea! I'll let my lawn guy know and see if we can do something in the spring! They seem to have calmed down the last week or so!

    Extremely Cloudy Water

Good deal - when you get the filter powered on and circulating water; give it about an hour or so - and then run a full chem panel.

What test kit are you using?

    Extremely Cloudy Water

Can you load up some pics? Run a full panel of chems too (unless they're in your profile - haven't checked there yet...)

Brand new to pools. Green pool day two.

Yep - cut open the case, and save it. The whole pillow won't fit in one bucket. But I also agree - we need some chemical test results before we go down the path of a bucket... we might need bucket and SLAM together... who knows until we see chemical test results.

Save the Snakes...at least the little harmless ones!

I get an insane amount of junebugs in my pool... I bet more than 200 this season. I have zero problem letting those things drown. I did save a weird looking giant beetle bug thing earlier this season at my son's request; because he "looked super cool and I wanna hold it".

DO NOT USE A MAGIC ERASER! If you have iron stains - there is a hack that does NOT tear up and deteriorate your liner. We'll get you down that path once we're certain this is iron in your water.

Brand new to pools. Green pool day two.

Do you have a ladder you can move near your return on the left (with the orange collar)? We're going to want to disconnect that hose from the pool and use it to funnel your pool water through your filtration; then through a 5 Gallon bucket with Polyfil, back into your pool. Polyfil bucket...

Looking foward to learning more about my pool

Hi @Kpare  and welcome to TFP! What sort of test kit are you using? We have some recommendations which can be found here: If you have cloudy water and you're seeing your Free Chlorine get eaten up we'd want to see a full run of chemical tests posted to help more accurately diagnose...

Brand new to pools. Green pool day two.

Hi @DNCXmom  That looks a lot like iron - we need to come at this from two angles. @TinFoilHat and @mknauss are both right - get yourself going through the Basics and get yourself a recommended test kit. THEN - we need to tackle the Iron at hand. Can you throw up some pics of your...

Save the Snakes...at least the little harmless ones!

That gives me the heebie jeebies! I think I'd light my pool on fire if I found snakes in it... but good on you for saving them and releasing back to the wild!

Freebie Pool - what am I looking at?

Meaning - if they were using filter balls, can i just dump those out, and put sand in the filter instead? OR is it like a "once you use filter balls, you're stuck using filter balls"

Freebie Pool - what am I looking at?

I do have a little sand filter I bought as an upgrade to my current AGP. Not sure it would be big enough to manage a 28 footer... but I could sell it and use that cash to invest in a bigger/better one if needed. Question - if that filter was using filter balls, is it easy to move to sand?

I noticed that little cagey thing too - and wondered exactly what those were. Kinda gross and seems ineffective.

Freebie Pool - what am I looking at?

Wet Noodle away - don't think that wasn't my first thought. Bigger pool, more water, more time with my BFF. But also... fill trucks are a thing. And if that means I shell out $500 on a liner, $500 on a fill, $300 on a filter... then is the FREE pool worth it?? And if my re-fill means Joe Dirt...

Freebie Pool - what am I looking at?

I asked about depth so that I could get at least a ballpark estimate. I think PoolLiners.com was running $400- $500 (still far cheaper than a NEW build of that size/design of pool) Good call - I plan to go up during the daylight and get some face-to-face time with the pool. I want to see what...

Freebie Pool - what am I looking at?

Good to know I'd need a liner regardless. That makes the $400 easier to swallow - plus I have the perk of picking out what I like. Win win, really. I plan to drive up and see it before I decide on it - luckily it's only about 40 mins from the house! And why am I not surprised you'd end up in a...

Freebie Pool - what am I looking at?

Hey friends! I found a freebie AGP near me - the owner said he’s sick of it so he is dismantling it, and giving it away for free. Looks like 28’ round - but, I have asked about the depth. Pool seems to be in good/decent shape from the few pics. But he mentions needing a liner. Thoughts on...
