Hi - I’ve got a pentair multiport 261152 and the backwash port just ejects out the side of the valve assembly. I’d like to add a 90 degree turn and some additional piping to get it away from the filter area. The backwash port isn’t threaded so is this just finding pvc pipe that fits inside the backwash outlet and using pvc cement to connect it? I’ve searched the interwebs but found nothing on this….

It is probably 2” PVC. You can buy at Home Depot or Lowes.

You need to glue the PVC to the multiport at least or else the force of the water can easily blow the pipe off. You can always add some PVC unions to the design so you can take it apart easily but, at 2”, the PVC unions ain’t cheap. Once you get the pipe down to the ground and pointed in the direction of where you want the discharge to go, you can always just use blue discharge hose for the rest of the run.
Yep I’m very comfortable working with pvc fittings. Seems this multiport is ABS however and I was assuming there was a fitting specifically for this but seems not based on my internet searches. I’m sure I’m overthinking it but want to make sure before I start gluing a permanent connection into a 300 dollar part.

Correct.
I assume the inlet and out ports are also glued to PVC pipe.
The ports are threaded on the 261152 multiport.
