What did you do to your pool today?

Take the extra plug to a plumbing supply house and they'll Frankenpipe you somehow.
Might work. And @proavia and I are in a PM discussing options, too. Like finding a 1.5" MIP plug that has enough meat on it to tap some NPT threads into it. Problems is, there are lots of articles about MIP (or NPS, or any number of other seemingly similar thread codes (confusing as all get out)), but not any actual MIP parts that are for sale, let alone the exact MIP to NPT reducer needed. MIP, or NPS, is a thing, obviously, but it's not commonly used. Everything is tapered. I see some straight thread stuff for hydraulics, and for fire hoses, but that's about it. And nothing in the way of what is needed to fit under a Pentair filter.

I think I understand why Pentair chose this thread. It's a pressure vessel and is better served by a plug with an o-ring, than one with tapered threads. Plus, those straight threads, with the o-ring, are already stripping out on too many users, imagine if it was tapered threads and folks were cranking down on the plug to get it to seal.

The consensus is: be very careful when installing the plug, and hand-tighten only (which is what I did and will do).

I tested after 3 days of blazing sun and not only was my FC a single digit, but it wasn't even a 9. Eight point five.

TIA for any thoughts and prayers during these difficult times.
I’m expecting similar results over the next few days. Forecast in the 90s, including 98° tomorrow. FC has been hovering at 10.5-11. I haven’t decreased the SWG because the weather has been so mild and lots of cloudy days. Sun will be blazing today and tomorrow. Even though I have CYA at 70 (I think….stupid dot test), FC will more than likely finally get below 10.

The pool was surprisingly easy to balance once I pulled the cover off. I know I had a mild algae issue over the winter, probably lingered from the end of last season. I was having to run the SWG at a much higher rate than normal all winter, so I thought I was in for a difficult opening. But opened up, vacuumed thoroughly, brushed constantly, SLAMMED for a few days and passed OCLT twice. All in all, it took about a week. I then raised CYA over the course of a few days. Pool is ready for some hot days!

My god, you people with your fancy pools, spas/hot tubs, outdoor kitchens, tiki bars and whatever else make me super jealous!! I love living vicariously through you, as I drop in the robot and add chlorine to my painfully basic pool.
Same! Tfp members have some amazing pools 🤩

Replaced my light bulb...and turned on the heater for the weekend....
Borates lowered the pH, so I threw in the aerator...just because I hadn't used it for a while...and I like the sound.
Will work on ladders next!

Have been losing water in my pump basket so today I relubed all gaskets and checked propeller
Turned pump back on and noticed a tiny drip by the pump drain plug
Have extras on hand so changed plug
Pressure seems to be holding now
Now waiting for the filter to clear my still but better, cloudy water

Yes, I admit my fold up chairs are a bit tacky next to a very nice pool area (thank you for the compliment btw) but they were 19.99 at Wally. We take them to watch my Granddaughters softball games.

But you’re right and gave me something to think about. 😁

I'll second the polywood adirondacks. I have 4 of them, sans cushions, around my fire pit. They are very comfy. And they stay put in high winds also.

We've been swimming, and it's almost nice enough to pull all the furniture out of the pole-barn, but not quite...probably next weekend.

Meanwhile I've been working on my automation - need to plumb in a couple temp sensors, and the pressure sensor, and then the plan is to add a motorized valve to bypass the heater when the pool doesn't need heat, and be able to drop the pump speed down even further. Of course, explaining to the wife why I need to spend a couple hundred bucks on valves and plumbing parts in order to cut my power usage from 500W to 300W...that's a bit harder ;)

If so inclined, you can find plans and build your own for the cost of the lumber which will cost substantially less and provide more satisfaction.

Once I get home I’ll take a pic of mine.

To paraphrase Chappelle, I want to sit in my chair, not make it!!!

But all kidding aside, wood based chairs dont make it in my neck of the woods. I have tried 3 sets of chairs, including teak ones that all disintegrate after about a year or two. The Polywood chair are still look brand new. If they get a little moldy nothing some bleach and a pressure washer cannot fix.
