As I said there is a lot more to my background story than I have written here. The hint I'll leave I vacation rented my property for a period of time over the past three years. The so called pool guy was an idiot. He drove my CYA over 100. You know what happens then don't you.

As to the cover, and FC levels...FC levels up to SLAM level FC based on your CYA are safe for people, pool and equipment. Hypochlorous acid is what is found in bleach/liquid chlorine. The vast majority of the FC is bound to CYA and the HOCl levels, up to slam, are less than .8ppm HOCl...which is about the same as 2 FC with no CYA. EPA allows up to 4 in drinking water (which has no CYA), which is about 1.1ppm HOCl. Proper FC for your CYA will not speed deterioration of a solar cover. The sun will do much more damage.
When I slammed my pool 2 months ago the help here was great. This time lol for the most part a bunch of know it all's as I am too. Thanks for no one answering ... is the copper in preventative algaecide dangerous? Shut me down or whatever. I'm done here today tonight and for a while. Have a pleasant summer all you experts! LOL
Are you saying that your FC was too low based upon your CYA level ? Because it is now too. You lose up to 4 ppm a day in sunny FL. Unless adding chlorine to the pool is your day job, you simply can't maintain 1.5 to 3ppm per day.

The algaecide is not dangerous to people per se, just the equipment, but the low chlorine level of 1.5ppm can be. That’s what everyone has been trying to say.
