I live in Atlanta, Ga metro. We've been following TFP method since building our pool. However, from about October to April, we really don't do anything to our pool. Not many trees around. We mainly clean the skimmer baskets and filter, brush occasionally, continue to run our pump as we do during swimming season (about 8 hours per day). Our water stays crystal clear all winter long.
A few weeks ago, the pool started looking green. Never had this happen before. We think the pump was doing something weird (not staying on?)
FC 0
pH >8.2
TA 100
CH 250
CYA 40
Salt 1600
Added recommended amounts of MA, salt, stabilizer, and 2 gal liquid chlorine. Pump running continuously. Brushed well. Cleaned filters.

Work schedule kept me from testing, but the water was clear 2 days later. Backed the pump down to regular schedule.I tested 5 days after adding everything:
FC 11
pH 7.5
TA 90
CH 275
CYA 90
Salt 3000

Levels have looked great since then. Water is clear. Question is: Should I have SLAMed the pool or should I slam it now?

Saltwater chlorine generator won’t work when the water is 55-ish or below but also algae doesn’t grow very fast at that temperature either and so the green water may have just been an algae bloom starting because it’s warmer. Do the overnight chlorine loss test to find out if you need to slam or not.
