Can I move my salt control panel? AGP

Hi all. I have an above ground hard sided salt water pool with the proper electrical setup currently.

The salt control unit is in a very inconvenient spot (have to go down off the deck on one side, walk away around the long side of the pool - 18x33 - and then essentially back to the deck on the other side). It's not the end of the world, but I would like to move the control unit about 8 feet from where it is to a post on my deck.

Unfortunately the current cords (pump to salt unit and salt unit to outlet) will not reach where I want to put it, but luckily the salt cell cord would reach the control unit where I'd like to put it. Note that my salt unit has a timer so I plug my pump into it.

This means I would need to extend these maybe 4':

1 - the cable from the pump, which plugs into the salt unit. This is a normal plug/cable.

2 - the cable from the salt unit to the plug. This is a twist lock 3 prong plug/cable.

So my obvious question - is this safe to do? I don't know much about electricity and wiring. I'd still be plugging evething into the gfci outlet the electrician installed on the post near the pool, but I'm unsure about the extension cord element id be introducing.

If I can extend these, is there anything special I need? I'd use a nice heavy duty outdoor extension cord for the normal plug from the pump, but what about a twist lock extension cord - would I need a certain amperage? Etc

Hoping someone can help guide me on this!

edit - added a terrible drawing to hopefully give the idea. green wiring is how it's currently run. red wiring runs to where I want to move the salt unit to and the red squiggly circles are where i'd have to extend the cords.

A picture would be better to see what you’re planning.
The equipment & accompanying electrical devices must maintain minimum distances per the nec

Most people also like their equipment in an out of they way place (preferably shaded) away from curious pool goers.
Using an extension cord is not advisable.
You would want to instead move the receptacle

GREAT news !!!! You should be inspecting your equipment once a week. Make sure there's no leaks/drips, check the filter PSI, not sparks, etc.

You'll only need to adjust the swg controller once for several of those weekly checks. (Once you get over the learning curve and are a SWG ninja). No two seasons are exactly the same, but at my old place half shaded I got 4 to 6 weeks per adjustment. At the new place with full sun I get 8 to 10 weeks for the *one* summer adjustment. The spring and fall are 2 to 4 weeks at each step, sesson depending.

But yeah. It's a non issue and if you have easy access to it, you'll probably drive yourself nuts micromanaging it.

I'm not exactly sure what you're getting at. My kids like to use the unit to check the water temp and stuff, and I flip on super chlorinate fairly often after we have a bunch of people in the pool.

We've had it in this spot for a few years and it would be better if it was on the deck lol

I just want it on the deck if possible.
Extension cords are against code. The manuals for your equipment should have it in big bold letters expressly forbidding it.

That you don't need to mess with it often enough to justify moving it.

Kids need an excuse to run around the pool. It's a win win. They can still go check it. :)

I wouldn’t want my kids messing with the box- a $4 thermometer would fix that part.
Btw, hitting super chlorinate after the fact is just playing catch up - the unit will still only make the max output per hour, it just does so for a predetermined amount of hours (usually 24hrs or until the pump turns off) before reverting back to normal settings.
Ideally you would use this option before the “party” or just up the fc with some liquid chlorine in advance instead of attempting to make up for a deficit with the slow producing cell.
