Haven’t soaked in a bath for years. I’m a shower man. Thinking of trying bromine instead.

Only dogs and Englishmen have baths.Bath = Dirt Soup
Just trying to nail down if it simply may be a soaking in hot water/ or water of any temperature thing. Some people just can’t. At least not while their moisture barrier is compromised & skin is irritated. I know when my face & hands act up just plain water can do me in. I must slather in emollients to get relief.Haven’t soaked in a bath for years. I’m a shower man. Thinking of trying bromine instead.
Thank you very much for that. My understanding is that when you shock with chlorine, sodium hypochorite will be instantly converted to hypobromous acid because of the bromine reserve in the water and you are left with no chlorine. Which is great as I can use my liquid chlorine without it just sitting there unused.Just trying to nail down if it simply may be a soaking in hot water/ or water of any temperature thing. Give the bromine a go & see how you fare.
The guide for it is pinned to the top of this sub forum.
To totally eliminate chlorine from the equation you would need to use mps to activate which is also a known irritant. So thats a curve ball of sorts as well. You’ll just have to try things out.
Thank you for that. I actually purged twice and super chlorinated over three days.Something to consider - hot tubs suck everything out of clothes, skin and hair. Any detergent, oils, lotions and I guess in this case fake tan will come out in the tub. We kept hot tub only bathing suits that didn't get washed for that reason. I have in the past when I used the tub use a pool leaf skimmer to take the foam off the top of the water. I also used Ahhsome but since it's not available (other than what was mentioned) I used to really hit the tub hard to decontam it before Ahhsome. Maybe rinse and repeat if need be!
This is true if you have enough bromine reserve. Otherwise you end up with both if you used more chlorine than you are able to activate. Just something to be aware of.Thank you very much for that. Once my skin settles down, which it almost has already, I am heading to a friend's place to jump in their bromine sanitised spa and see how I react.
Ahh! Found it!

Today I tested my chlorine demand and it was 22% which is considered very good. It's perfectly balanced too. As Jules said in Pulp Fiction, "The m f is tip top!" My skin is just Marvin in the back seat.
It’s been years since I saw that movie. If I remember correctly, Marvin didn’t fare so well lol.Thank you for that. I actually purged twice and super chlorinated over three days.

So once my skin settled down I headed to a friend’s place last night and hopped in his bromine hot tub. Went home with fingers crossed and, lo and behold, no itching!! Very excited but what a waste of 10 months of no hot tubbing! Bromine it is!This is true if you have enough bromine reserve. This is most common when using bromine tabs to build your bank.
Hoping it gets well for u!
Well. I’ve moved to bromine and I’m having the same skin issues. Wife has no issues. Online Dermatologist appointment next week. Thinking it’s probably pseudomonas and the family aren’t affected. But who would know? I’m ready to give up. I’ve purged this thing within an inch of its life. But I guess if I’m getting in it with a residual pseudomonas infection then I’m probably just reintroducing the bug. As you may tell from my tone, I’m beyond disappointed. So once my skin settled down I headed to a friend’s place last night and hopped in his bromine hot tub. Unfortunately some people are just more predisposed to skin infections/inflammation. I would suggest that you be fully healed and have that confirmation via testing before attempting hot tubbing again. If you’re able, seek out an infectious disease specialist. It can make a huge difference vs the shotgun approaches of most general practitioners. Just my personal advice after dealing with my husband having a staph infection for years. Everything changed after going to the infectious disease specialist.Well. I’ve moved to bromine and I’m having the same skin issues. Wife has no issues. Online Dermatologist appointment next week. Thank you. Yes we use gentle laundry detergent and I use soap free washes. Heat looks like the trigger. Awesome!@SteveOL
I know that sounds very mehbut on the bright side- not infectious hot tub rash!
My daughter & son are “hivers” so I sympathize
Hives are like snowflakes in that no two are the same or appear in the exact place was how it was explained to me. We always use Benadryl initially then Allegra for the long term. & of course removing the offending substance if we could identify it. With my girl its usually some kind of food and my son its generally some kind of topical irritant. We seem to all have quite sensitive skin and can’t use scented detergent etc. it certainly makes it unfun to try new products like the rest of the world does. Hoping your skin calms down for you soon!

Perhaps you need to schedule your spray tan appointments during the offseason! Gosh! When I purged my hot tub after years of ignorant use (not purging), the ring was exactly that color.
When I recently did my jetted bath tub, it was darker and not as slimy
Purged my whirlpool bath today
We hadn't used the jetted tub in a year or two when the Mrs asked recently if she could, and I promptly cringed. Lemme clean it first and then I'll keep it purged if it keeps being used. I got a bunch of gunk out and the ahhsome lived up to its name yet again. I was kinda surprised...www.troublefreepool.com
Spray tans are a complete mystery to me. Why are they even a thing?Perhaps you need to schedule your spray tan appointments during the offseason! Gosh!
Cuz every body knows fat looks better tanSpray tans are a complete mystery to me. Why are they even a thing?
Because in my teenage dirtbag years (middle and high school), tanning beds were all the rage. Obviously, strong UV rays are bad for you (shocking, right), so many people do spray tans instead. I’m half Greek and have a natural base tan, so I just stay a lil “pasty” in the winter and get tan by floating and swimming in the pool (with SPF!!) in the summer. I had a spray tan ONCE, and looked like RFK Jr.Spray tans are a complete mystery to me. Why are they even a thing?
This I will admit!! A tan makes most people look thinner and more flattering — IF DONE RIGHT. @Newdude can keep his spray tan schedule and I’ll get my tan by floating in the pool, minding my business.Cuz every body knows fat looks better tan
That was literally the line of a local tanning salon commercial here
