Possible leak

Hi, so I have an older pool setup, with flexible PVC pipes that were here when we purchased the house with pool three years ago. This season it's been open for three weeks and I've noticed about a one inch water loss (based on skimmers) over the course of 1-1.5 weeks. I also have been seeing air bubbles from return jets, and everytime I open the the Dr filter air release valve, I see air come out, then water, but if I reopen, air again. I noticed today that the inlet to the pump seems to have some loose spaces around it, almost as if the pool guy who set it up didn't tighten the clamp or seal it. Attached below are pictures, I tried my best with the angles. Could this be a potential source? I have already relaxed pump lid o ring

Well, first let me say that anytime we see hoses clamped to a fitting, that's a potential leak area. Definitely something to always watch for. But to your first point, if you're losing about 1 inch of water every week to week and a half, are you even sure you have a water leak? That type of water loss is normal for many area based on ambient temperature and wind. The air in the filter is probably suction side related and would not necessarily be a cause for water loss unless the system was just off for an extended period of time or it was a major break.

If I were you, I'd continue to inspect and work on any areas with a clamp there at the pad. Check for any leaks above ground. Then consider using the link below to check the evaporation rate for your area to see if that small water loss each week or two is normal.

Interesting, I checked out the site you sent and according to my zip code, we lose 0.1 inches per day, so I guess over 7-10 days it is about 1 inch. I will try to measure to see if it matches this. I will also keep a lookout for tears, thanks!

I did the water test whereby I put running hose by that entrance inlet I attached pictures of, and it seemed to reduce the bubbles by 90% so I think perhaps this may be a source of air.
