Hi All,
Long-time lurker, first-time poster; thank all of y'all for the knowledge you share on this site, it is great! I recently started following this site as a guide to renovate my pool. I am currently at the plumbing stage and have a question regarding my hot tub return lines. The hot tub is spillover attached to the pool with four return jets. The 1.5" PVC water return lines run back to the hot tub and run into the concrete shell. Running parallel to these water lines is a 1.5" PVC air line that runs from my blower to each of the return lines and is reduced to 0.5" PVC right before it runs into the concrete shell. I have attached some photos of the lines cut off at the shell.
Before i removed the old plumbing, when the blower was turned on while the water was circulating, the air would blow violently out of the returns; enough to throw water out of the pool. When the blower was turned off, the water flow returned to normal; no bubbles. My question is, how do i replumb this and what is your guess as to what fitting is buried in the concrete that joins the water and air lines at each return? I've done quite a bit of reading on venturi tees, loops, etc., but i'm at a loss on how to replumb this. Just as it was done previously or make some mods? Now seems like the time to do it if i want to change the current status; and it didn't seem to operate normally prior to reno. Anyhow, without being to much more verbose, i appreciate your opinion on how you would move forward with the replumb. As of now, i have two stubouts at each return (1.5", 0.5") and freedom to do what i want, except the fitting that is buried in the concrete, of course.
thank you!
Jeffery
