I have read so many posts and yet im still confused. I have a PDA and want to upgrade to web where i can control and program from the web.

my board is Aqualink RS Pure link

and my PDA is PS-8
PDA 7.1.0

I think form my reading that if i upgrade to:

iQ20-A then I just get web control of the pda but if I do iQ30-RS then the web control takes over all the programing. anybody offer insight here on what i need?

You need the IQ30-RS for full web control and programming. The IQ20-a just gives you a WiFi antenna which is useless. Make sure you get a IQ30-RS that upgrades you to RS8.

Once you convert to RS, your PDA will change roles to just an on/off device. You will no longer see the programming options.

This is the PCB board that gets replaced and comes with the IQ30-RS kit. This is my old PDA board that I replaced with an RS4 board.

Thank You. did you do the change yourself? what was that like? I'm pretty handy and understand electricity pretty well but sometimes get a confused on low voltage. and did you keep your old pda? I understand that it has to be wired in some sort of way. Did you find a good price for the upgrade? any tips on where to shop?

I did it 100% myself. It is about 10 minutes total, if that. Open up the box, couple screws and just swapping that board (above). For you, also plugging in the WiFi antenna and finding a place to mount it, then connecting everything with your phone app. The kit includes the entire main board but you only need the PCB I pictured above. If you have an older system, I would replace it all though.

My builder screwed me and told me I was getting the IQ20-RS and just gave me the IQ20a so Jandy tech support took pity on me and sent me the board for free. Not sure where to get it the cheapest it runs around $1k. Here is one that I found with a quick search. Jandy iAquaLink 3.0 iQ30-RS Web Connection Upgrade Kit-IQ30-

Make sure you write down the AUX assignments before you start so you aren't trial and erroring them to figure out where they go. There is a worksheet with the kit that will tell you to do this.

You can keep the old PDA along with the PDA antenna. It will still work as an on/off device. Or, you could sell the PDA and antenna they go for upwards of $500 even used. I rarely use mine since the phone app does the same thing and is easier to use. PDA is good for guests that don't have the app when we have company over I put it out so they can turn on the waterfall or change the light color.

I believe that the IQ30-RS upgrade kit comes with an entire new main RS control board that you just swap in, rather than the smaller processor board that plugs on to the back of the main board.
