This year will be the first opening with our pool with auto cover. Pool was built and filled right before the 2023 season.
For the winter, water was lowered 15 inches or so, all returns and skimmers were blown and plugged, and a winter mesh cover was installed. During the winter I had to remove water several times because of the rain we got. Putcthe pump in, drain, repeat.
I’m planning to open the pool in April, if not to use it, just to have something better to look at than the mesh cover.
Today the water is back to where it needs to be when the pool is open. Right in the middle of the skimmers opening.
I’m thinking about removing the winter mesh cover, swap to the autocover with the pump on top of it, until I restart the equipment in a month or so.
Any downside to do this? We don’t expect snow here anymore in coastal CT and it would prevent me to avoid pumping out water anymore and potentially have to refill with city water the day we want to open. Opinions???
