Okay, so I was about to begin SLAM on the pool, because it is very green. I did the tests using the TF-100 kit. I originally got the following test results:

6.5 FC
0.5 CC
7.5 pH
30 TA (Which I may have messed that test up, only using 10mL for sample, instead of 25mL)
200 CH
80 CYA

I used the CYA Chlorine chart and determined I needed about 4 gallons of 10% bleach to get where I needed. So I added the 4 gallons, and let it run for about 2 hours. My next test results were:

27.0 FC
0.5 CC
8.2 pH
100 TA (Definitely correct sample amount)
200 CH
140 CYA (Using diluted test procedure)

I know I'm supposed to drain the pool and refill some to bring the CYA down, but I'm a little concerned because I filled a smaller 4000 gallon pool last summer with my well water, and it instantly oxidized when I went to add chlorine, due to the metals in my well water. Now I have since gotten a water purification system for the house, so I feel a little better knowing that maybe some of those metals may be removed, but I'm a little timid about filling with well water. That is of course the only option, as I'm just trying to clear the pool up to close it for the winter.

Can someone give me some advice as to what steps they think I need to take to get myself in position to have a successful SLAM? Thanks in advance!!!!

The first step would be figure out your actual CYA. Are you saying that you tested a CYA of 80 and 140 on the same day? I assume you haven't added any CYA or CYA containing products like pucks/powdered shock?

Assuming no products were added, I would assume testing error. I would do a 3rd time and see what that one says and ideally, it confirms one of your other CYA numbers.

Do the CYA test...waist high, sun to your back, just glance at it-don't stare. I fill it to each line successively so its easier than guessing between lines.

do you know which metals are in the water? If its iron we can help you remove that....

Now, about the CYA..... You being close to closing time have a couple of options....How cold is your water now?
1) drain a little over half the pool and refill, then do a SLAM Process.
2) SLAM at the current high level using extraordinary amounts of Liquid Chlorine and let the fall/winter rain help exchange your water and do a SLAM on opening in the spring (A Northeastern rain/snow benefit for some)
3) Close up green and let the natural lowering of CYA and fall/winter rain help exchange if water can still get in your pool. Then do a good SLAM Process on opening.

Yes, I did do a third CYA test and found it to be right around 120-140. I think my first test I was adding water to the tube until I absolutely didnt see that black dot. I read somewhere after the first test that it should be sort of a glance and not see it. So, I'm pretty sure the CYA is over 100.

Maybe check it again. Glancing at it should make all that much of a difference. At least not so much as 80-140 difference. Maybe post a picture.

This is with a diluted sample, so 2x

Whoa.. is that with PoolMath? Try this version assuming you're on a computer?

Usually PoolMath tells you how much to drain. Make sure you input your pool size, and go to the bottom and pick details first.

I only see it saying, "Draining some water and refilling can be helpful" Doesn't really say how much?
It's dilutes at an even proportion as fill water has zero CYA. 50% exchange lowers you by half. 75% by 3/4, etc. There's a wide range of how much you want to lower, say, to use more FC managing it at 70 or 80, or going full bore down to 30.

Ok, thank you!! I only see it saying, "Draining some water and refilling can be helpful" Doesn't really say how much?
If it’s 160, draining 1/2 the water will get you down to 80ppm. So somewhere between 1/2-3/4 is probably where you want to be. But then don’t use anymore stabilized chlorine products.
