Hey everyone. I searched before posting and had no luck finding my answer. I want to install a fountain to help cool the water a little. I have a Cancun Deluxe Fiberglass pool with 3 main return lines. The fountain hooks up to one and asks me to plug the other two. My question is will this be detrimental to the plugged return lines or will it wear down the pump?

I would be hesitant to close off the other returns just yet. In fact, it's easier IMO to test the new fountain with the other two jets open like normal, then close them off one at a time only if needed to support the fountain.

But let's see what @mas985 might have to say about the pressure requirements.

Thanks for the reply. So we tried the fountain last year and the only way to have enough pressure was to block two and leave the spa return on. Maybe I can choke the other two down a bit without actually plugging them completely.

Not detriment and it won't wear down the pump as long as some water is flowing. In fact. high pressure and low flow rates are easier on a pump than low pressure and high flow rates. The motor will run cooler.
