Resurrecting a 2011 Aquarite Goldline on a shoestring budget 🤑

Also, I just checked and MS electric has a $250 VS pump rebate. That's half the cost of the 3 HP Calimar.
Was that entergy MS? We have like no rebates.
Also, my pump is only a year old (replaced under warranty) & I have a spare in the shed. Looking like I’ll be on the single speed train a while longer.

MS power.

*edit, found entergy's rebates and they have $750 for a pool heat pump but no pool pump rebate :(
Looking like I’ll be on the single speed train a while longer.
Especially with your long seasons, you'd get your $519 back quick at full price.

Your plumbing is even simpler than the simpool2.0 and I produce at 700 RPMs / 35W. Today i learned it shuts off at 600. :laughblue:

Yeah the break even is about 2 full seasons considering my average run time. May be in the cards later. Only 1 big purchase per season lest I draw too much attention from the guy who wants a new tractor 🚜
Gotta finish paying for all these sports 🏀 🏐 too! And food of course 🛒- ouch!

Update 🔔
Everything is installed- let it sit overnight.
When I turned it on it starts with the power & generating lights on then switches from generating to check salt & inspect cell lights (solid) all the diagnostic numbers that were zero remain the same- the voltage differed slightly (29 maybe?)
Safe to assume the cell is bad?

Sad update 😥 the old flow switch tee has sprung a terrible leak! I have a new one & a new flow switch on order from Amazin- pd for delivery by tomorrow. Tried to call Leslie’s but no one answers the phone- & they’re crazy expensive anyway.
I knew I should have just ordered one before.
My swg cell has been in Hernando since yesterday at 6am but still doesn’t say “out for delivery” so I guess it won’t be here till tomorrow. Got the pool off & the valves closed so I’m not loosing water.
I have this terrible valve that I could turn to stop the flow to that return leg & still run the pool but I have never moved it & it seems super flimsy. I’m also not sure how to turn it to do what I want 🤔
I would like to shut off the silver hose

Make believe there is a T at the short end of the handle. When you turn the handle, the T stops flow at the end. (Or allows it to go all 3 ways like it is currently)

Turn it like so and it will stop the hose side

Got the valve moved and that leg isolated & the pump running so I could add a little Liquid chlorine this morning - I will be so happy not to have to supplement every few days anymore!
& Ups finally updated!

My Tee & flow switch say they’ll be here by 10pm but aren’t listed as “out for delivery” yet 🤞
Gotta run & get more reducers to replace the flow switch tee - may try a little gorilla tape on the leak if the cell shows up just so I can try it. The anticipation is killing me 🙈 😱!

Cell has arrived & we are generating! We’re also leaking like a sieve but I guess you can’t win em all 😂

Took a minute to get the low salt light off by fixing the instant salt & get it off of metric but I think we’re in business now 😁🧂my last k1766 salt check was a month ago & was 2800 & I added enough to get to 3k so I will check that later & see where I am really at.

Put the new tee & flow switch in - no leaks but no flow light was on solid! 🤬
Pulled the new flow switch out & closed it with my hand - nothing changed…
Quickly put the old one in there, flashed a minute then …. generating ✅
Finally success!!!!
Upon further inspection when I went to ohm out the flow switch I realized one of the plastic dividers on the cord end was mushed out of place & i was able to move it back so I won’t send it back & just keep it in reserve.
I went with the hump down to help keep the plates covered. Probably going to add a couple pipe supports to give it a little more ground clearance. It’s not actually laying on the ground, there’s quite a bit of fall there. The black things sticking up are actually part of the base for my sand filter, that’s where the pump is supposed to sit but my warranty replacement pump is different & didn’t fit on it & they didn’t give me another base so I had to improvise & turn it to the back.
Got the cables cleaned up under there a bit- left the old swg mounted incase I want a little help without increasing pump run time since it’s a drape over. It ain’t real pretty but it gets the job done.

Good luck Generic cells produce generic results.
the free controller I am using is already 12 years old - when this cell/controller craps out I will hopefully have the means to get a new appropriately sized 60k gal system if my pool actually lives that long 😂
I also picked that particular cell for it’s higher fc output compared to oem & other generics. We’re making lemonade outta lemons 🍋 over here 😁 this solution isn’t for everyone.

We’ve come a long way from this little $50 pool!
- that was actually more than 7 years ago, I must have reposted it then. But it popped up this morning in my memories on FB.

They call Intex type pools 'Walmart pools', but I disagree. This was the Walmart pool i started with. It was bigger than the kids, and it was wet. They squeeled with delight in it.
