Good Morning All,

We are starting our first full season with a salt water pool here in Central Texas. Attached are the results for today from the Pool Math App. We have work to do. Per the general guidance on TFP we are starting by getting our PH up to a good range starting with at least 7.2. The app suggested ~ half a gallon of 31.45% Muriatic Acid which we have just added. I believe once the PH is balanced we then move on to CYA. We need to eventually get to SLAMing the pool, as we have some black algae starting to appear. I would appreciate any recommendations for the order of priority to get our pool chemistry headed in the right direction. Thank you!!

Confirm your pH has made it down to about 7.2. At the same time, add another 10-20 ppm of stabilizer to ensure you have a CYA of 30 or 40. Then increase and maintain an FC of 12 if the CYA is closer to 30. If the CYA makes it closer to 40, your FC SLAM level will be 16. Follow the SLAM Process and you'll do well.

Chlorine is king. Get some liquid chlorine in that pool!

Do you have a FAS-DPD chlorine test? Your signature indicates you have K-2005, which doesn't have it...you need it to slam...

In case you need this .......

Adding CYA:
To increase CYA via granular stabilizer, place the required amount as calculated by the Poolmath calculator into a white sock and place in the poolside skimmer basket. For those concerned about suction flow to the pump, suspending the sock near a return jet or from a floating device will also suffice. Best never to allow undissolved granules to rest directly against the pool surface. After soaking for about 20-30 minutes, squeeze the sock often to help it dissipate. Once dissolved, consider your CYA adjusted to that programmed (target) level. CYA test readings should show a rise in 24-48 hours, however some pools may experience a longer delay to fully register. Best to confirm final CYA in about 5-7 days before adding any more stabilizer/conditioner.
