INEXPERIENCED OB Steel wall vinyl liner inground pool under construction in north texas

Hopefully I will eventually understand the pump run time, speed, etc..... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: . I will definitely use a robot for the pool (however it is going to have to wait a bit as I need to get the money for it together)...... with a robot I don't have to do anything additional correct??
You will need somewhere to plug 🔌 it in. The power supply is not water proof so take that into consideration as well.

Hey guys, I though I would check in with you guys and maybe get some advise..... the people that was going to "help me" with this project, flaked out, so the past month I have been trying to excavate my pool myself (being a single mom of an 8 yo and I work 6 days per week :(, hence taking a whole month to excavate)!!!!!!..... I needed some advise, I started setting up the panels last night, and I realize that part of my shelf is to low (about 2"- 2 1/4" inches)............ I was going to remove the panel and try to add some dirt to the area, compact it and put the panel, but then today after sleeping a few hours, I am thinking that it might be better to simply leave the cinder blocks that I used to level, and actually put more around them so the panel is completly supported......... what do you guys think would be best???

When they did my pool they used flat paver blocks to level it. When the concrete collar is poured it will lock everything in. Can you get closer more detailed pics of exactly how much its off and how many pavers there are?

I will today. It is not too bad. It is about 2” on half of 1 of the sides….. in there instructions the say to use concrete pavers and roof shingles to level the walls, so I thiyit will be ok 🙂

I'm hoping to get some advise from you guys....... As I am almost done setting up my panels (Yay!!!), and move into the plumbing, I ran into a contradiction........ in all the post and websites that I have seen, the each one of the returns is on its own individual line (picture 1), so that is what I was going to do.... but a guy that does pools in this area told me that it was better to do only one line.. (picture 2)..... what do you guys think??

thank you. is there an advantage to being able to control each line??
Yes. If something goes wrong with your return line, all your pool equipment goes down because you can't get water back to the pool with just one return line. Should you have multiple individual return lines, if one of the return lines goes wrong, you still have 1 or 2 other lines functioning so you can keep your pool in working order while you diagnose and fix the line with the issue. It's one thing to buy a house with a pool that has all the returns or skimmers tied to one line. If you're building it from scratch, why not give yourself the flexibility with individual lines. It'll double your plumbing work now, but you'll be glad if any of the lines ever has an issue plus as noted above you can control the flow.

I just built my pool in 2022. I have 2 skimmers and 4 returns; all are plumbed with individual lines.

and kudos to you, doing an OB as a single mom of an 8 year old. Congrats! Hope you had an amazing Mother's Day!

Thank you. That is what I was thinking, but since the "Pool guy" said it was better the other way I though I would run it by you guys :)

Either way

Either way you are going to have a straight pipe into a manifold, its just a matter of if you want that at the valve side or the return side. Id rather have it at the valve side for reasons already noted above.

hey guys, can anyone recommend a decent "autofill system" to get that is not too expensive???.....I am determined to get this freaking pool next week or the next at the latest, and I need to finalize the autofill, the SWG and the automation :( . TIA

I don't have one I can recommend, sorry, just some thoughts/questions. What's your goal with the autofill? Do you lose that much water in your area that it would be burdensome to run a garden hose every so often? Are you worried about burning out the pump? If you have a main drain, you wont have to worry about burning out the pump and you can fill at your leisure via the garden hose. Full disclosure, I just built a vinyl pool without a main drain. I am also not worried about having to fill my pool up; last time I had a pool, I drained more often than I added water.

Looks like you're going Hayward equipment, so find the right 40k salt cell from Hayward and the Hayward automation system that fits your budget and does what you want it to do.

Thank you very much for your reply. The reason for the autofill was concern for the pump burning up because I had read that it was possible, but I never stop to think that with the 2 main drains in place there is no way that the pump will run dry unless there is a MAYOR break/leak on the line.......thank you for helping me stop. focus. and use logic for a second :ROFLMAO: ;):)........... for the automation and SWG I think I am going to order the Hayward Aquaplus....... anyone has any experiance/opinion with it/about it?????

Hey guys, I have another question............ what is the deal with "sono" tubes??? My kit didn't bring any, and the instructions only explain the use of them with polymer walls, but it doesn't mention them with steel walls........... Am I supposed to put those in???

Though I would share some pictures. This was last night at 11:00 pm. I managed to finish one full side of the pool panels 😁 hopefully tonight I can finish the other side and steps…… I think I will make it after all 😂

I think you really only need sono tubes to support your concrete/paver/whatever deck if you don't use proper backfill or are worried about sandy/loose soil and settling. I did not use sono tubes on my build, and I don't think most people do. I used a combination of 57 stone and crushed 304? aggregate for backfill.
