I made my first post here in early May titled "Almost above ground pool owner. Help put my mind at ease about cooling the water!".
I ran into a several months delay trying to get the ground prepped, but finally secured another kind soul who helped me get everything prepped/level/etc. Thankfully I live in the deep south where it's still warm for a little while, so I went ahead and set the pool up. I also didn't want the ground to get pitted/etc. from rain or have the grass grow back up around it before I placed the pool.
My 16 yo son and his friend helped on a Saturday get the pool set up (Intex 12' x 24' x 52") and it was very easy and straight forward...I used my new water line I had run right at the main to fill the pool and thanks to the better pressure there I was able to have it completely full in about a day. I finished hooking up the pump, sand filter, and salt water to chlorine generator the next day and we are in business! I used 8 x 16 x 2" cement pads to rest the legs of the pool on. somehow we got every one of the straps between the pool and supports backwards
...not sure if that matters from a structural perspective but if I can fix it without killing myself I will.
I still need to fix the shade sail (I used nylon rope and should have used metal cables...I also need to make it slant more) and pretty up the pool surroundings (will use gravel and some kind of border, but I'm happy to finally have the bulk of the work behind me. I still need to get a proper test kit and I realized this morning I need a vacuum as well as the water is super clear but there's a few little deposits of pollen at the bottom.
Thanks again for all your help in putting my mind at ease and I'll definitely reference back here for all my further pool maintenance education! It ain't pretty yet and I've got a few more adjustments to make, but it's up and the kids can play in it!
