Hello,

Home for sale, inspection by the buyer next week and suddenly have a leak out of the top of the brand new multiport valve that was installed a week ago but the leak is coming out of what looks like an eyeball indicator view window (Not to be confused with the glass site for the waste line) . This is the variflo multiport SP0710XR50 connected to a DE Grid Filer 60sq ft (I am pretty sure it is 60 sq ft) . I am desperate for a solution. Any idea of the cause ? Is it a defect ? It was working perfectly for the first 5 days then I went out today and found it leaking. Is this the wrong part ? Is it a defect ? How do I rectify ???? What is this eyeball thing anyway ? Thank you and God Bless you for taking the time out of your day to assist me. See pictures.

I agree that it looks like a defect. The problem is availability of parts based on your time frame. I replaced my MPV this summer so I know how hard it is to get parts.

I think that it is a defect. I have never seen that on any multiport.

Replace the pert.

Installed by whom?
Thanks James. Are you saying you have never seen that circular think where water is leaking out of ? My previous part had it but no leak. Could it be the large brand new o-ring that came with it installed already ? Maybe there is water slipping past it and coming out the path of least resistent in the top of the lid ? Thank you.

Did you replace the entire valve?

It looks like the stem is leaking.
Hey James,

Appreciate your time. The entire valve is new, not just the top handle part. I really am thinking it is some sort of pressure release feature if water gets past the larger O-ring. I just reconnected the old handle (6 months old) and no leak out of that circle thing so far. Can you please confirm what needs to be lubricated/sealed ? Is pool lube acceptable for all the gaskets (Spider, small o-ring, large o-ring) ? Thank you Sir.
