We acquired an AGP with our new house last summer. We turned it from dark green to clear last fall and are about to open it this spring. Previous owners had pool put in in 2018 or 2019. I guess it’s possible the filter came with sand in it (the whole works appears to have been purchased used). We just rinsed sand for 2 hours and it’s still nasty. Time to quit and replace the sand? Thanks!

YEH! Welcome to TFP.

Yeah, that is a long time. Usually takes about 10 minutes to clear up. I'd go ahead and get new sand. You have no idea what gunk they used before you (Clarifiers, Floc etc.)

Best advice is to get the manual and follow the instructions to a "T" on replacing sand.

Good point! We got the sand out after (shamefully) spending another hour cleaning. It actually didn’t look til bad except the surface. Anyway, next conundrum: can we glue this back together? I think I know the answer. CFBC6332-FB73-401D-8A49-4E567207CE1B.jpeg
