High TA Normal ph

Hi guys. My fill water has high alkalinity that creeps back up after I add enough water back. Currently it is at 250 (I added a good amount of fill water when I opened back up my pool this year) My pH is pretty steady around 7.5. Do I have to stress about getting the TA down instantly or just lower the pH when it creeps up and just let it fall over time? I had it down to like 130 last year before I discovered this website and took my water to Leslie’s and they told me I NEEDED to buy like 150 lbs of dry acid to get the TA down.

What is your CSI? Unless that’s high I don’t see a reason to force TA lower, especially if your pH is stable.

I’m sure Leslie’s would love to sell you some chems to lower your TA, and then more chems to raise the pH when that goes down too.

Pool math is showing CSI at like .76. My CH is really high in my fill water as well.
 
At higher CSI you start worrying about scale in the heater and on the pool surface. I think that’s more about CSI over 1.0, though. Still, you might run the pH closer to 7.2 and try to keep it there to keep the CSI down.
