Switch from Chlorine to Salt?

Welcome to TFP!

What most people call a salt water pool still uses chlorine. An electrode is installed in the plumbing to extract the chlorine from the salt.

Odds are it’s other chemistry issues that cause your skin discomfort. Posting a full set of test results would let us help you figure it out.

I’ve had my Jacuzzi brand SWG for 2 months now and love it. $1400 and installed myself in 1 hour and works awesome !! No more adding chlorine. Just set it and forget it. ( with testing obviously)

But the way the water feels while in the pool or after your out feels amazing.

I would recommend 100%

New to TFP and looking to find any resources that I can read to start thinking about changing our in-ground chlorine pool to salt water. Any suggestions where to start? Chlorine doesn’t agree with my skin anymore. Thanks!
As mentioned above. Any skin irritation from the pool water likely is caused by combined chloramines (CC’s) and not chlorine itself (FC). CC’s are present when there is stuff in the water that chlorine is breaking down.

If you follow the TFP protocols, you can get rid of that while staying with a chlorinated pool. But also note above that a Salt Water pool has the same amount of chlorine as a “chlorine” pool. The chlorine just comes from breaking down salt into NA and CL. So stick around a learn how to avoid the itchy CC rashes.
