Hi everyone,
I just purchase my new property yesterday, 5/6/22 and it came with what could be a beautiful above ground pool. Unfortunately the water is green and it has algae growing all around the inside. The pump is disconnect but the seller said it works. Im hoping y’all can help me clean this pool so it’s ready to swim in before the end of this month. I’m so excited and ready to do what every I need to to get it up and running. Thanks, Lisa.

Welcome to TFP and congrats on the new home and pool. So here are a few starting tips for you to consider:
1. You cannot do anything accurately without proper water testing. That's what TFP is all about. The sooner you expedite a TF-100 (link in my signature) or Taylor K-2006C test kit the better. You need one or the other.
2. Avoid the pool store testing, test strips or any chemic gimmicks claiming to kill algae. It's a waste of $$$. We use the SLAM Process to kill and remove algae. It requires the proper elevated chlorine level based on your CYA (stabilizer) level. See FC/CYA Levels.
3. You may consider a healthy water exchange. No telling what products the people before you use. You can ask them, and if they say thing like (chlorine tabs, algaecides, Pool Weekly, floc, clarifier, etc, you're going to dump some water. You might even need to replace the sand in the filter. We'll see. If they say they used only liquid chlorine, acid, and stabilizer, you might be okay.
4. Update your signature. See mine as an example. Include which test kit you get. Are you on a well? If so, list that too.

The link below is a great tool. So is the PoolMath APP. Use them. That should get you started.
