My pool is done finally. Here are the pics and details of all of the color and design selections. There is still work to be done - finish the new restroom, spray deck, landscape, clean up, etc. But we're enjoying the pool

We spent a LOT of timing making selections but we love how it turned out. One thing we were changed our mind about is Abalone in the plaster. I read about a lot of staining and didn't want to risk it. So, we went with a shining Toe-Tile and are happy with that decision.
  • Water Line Tile & Spa Tile - Aquabella Naxos OD-144
  • Coping & Water Fall - Silver Travertine
  • Water Color - NPT StoneScape Mini Pebble Aqua White
  • Tile for scupper and back wall - MSI Gray Oak 3d honed
  • Toe Tile along steps - NPT Equinox Obsidian Black Steel
Landscaping (see updated photos down below)
  • Blackstar Gravel (I wanted black beach pebble but the cost was 40X more - $30/yard vs $1200/yard)
  • 24 x 24 Sendero Mica Porcelain Paver (from Lowe's)
  • Maculata Bamboo (from Houston Bamboo Nursery)

Simply beautiful! The waterline tile is awesome. I see what looks like a beer...you just need to unicorn floats and you're good to go.

BTW glass is a pain to get out of the pool. Just sayin'...

Great job on the design!

@chrsbrq just came across this build thread and wanted to say your pool is gorgeous!

We just signed a contract for a pool with a flush spa and I was curious if your opinion on if you find it difficult at all to maintain the perfect water level with the flush spa?

We’re in central Florida so I’m a little worried about maintaining the water level during the rainy summers here.

Absolutely gorgeous pool!

@FloatingAround, I have the same flush spa design and get a lot of rain year-round in Louisiana. The water level does make enjoying the spa challenging at times in the early and late swimming season. When a heavy rain comes through and the water level is above the spa tile by more than maybe a quarter inch, you’ll start to get blasts of cold pool water coming in when running the spa heater and jets. My wife hides in the furthest corner from the pool during those times!

We never close our pool here and use the spa year round. You can lower the water level if you know you’re going to want to use the spa, but lowering the water even an inch really affects your chemical levels. Not a big deal during the summers, but something to consider when the pool is colder and a rain comes through.

Thanks for the sharing. I think it will be nice and we definitely like the look of the flush spa. It just means I'll have to keep on it and monitoring the water level pretty closely certain times of the year.

The Spa overflows into the pool when it is on "Pool" mode. There is a jet inside the spa that pushes water into it, causing it to overflow into the pool. When the pool is on Spa mode the water level in the Spa is lower than the wall.

Also, my PB doesn't install auto-fill valves because he had a few customers that had eventually developed leaks and didn't know about it for a long time because the pool was constantly at the correct level. However, I bought one of these "Dig Irrigation Timer Actuator" and installed it on the manual pool fill valve that he installed. Right now in Texas, we've had 100+ temps for pretty much the past 1.5 months. I've figured out that running it "8 minutes on even days" keeps the pool at the perfect level. Also, if I have to manually fill the pool, I can set the timer the water shuts of automatically. So, I'll never forget to turn the water off and waste to ton of water and chemicals.

OK, closing this thread out. My project is officially 100% complete! The new pool restroom is complete. I'd like to point out the shower has 16 jets and doubles as a steam room. I also finished the new spray deck and repainted the old spray deck to gray base with black and white speckles. It is done, done done!!!

can you give some more detail on the pool deck/concrete. I really love the look and would be interested in doing something similar. Thanks!
