Shop vac return lines through jandy handle?

This is going to be the first year I don't lower the water all the way below the spa return lines when closing. That took days last year to lower the water and I'd really prefer not to drain that much. So, I'm going to attempt to blow out the spa return lines and plug them underwater. However, I am mildly paranoid about water getting in the plugs in that split second(s) between plugging and turning off the blower. I was pondering the following. Is there a way to shop vac out any water from the return line(s) that may have gotten in during the plugging?

The only was that I can easily get to the return line from the filter end is by taking off the top of the handy handle. Of course, putting the shop vac in through there doesn't have enough of a seal to actually suck anything out. Is there any kind of adapter for this? Or is there another way around this?

The same solution would come in handy during opening to suck out anti-freeze for the return lines as well. The spa return line is the one on the bottom far left on the pic below.

You can use a bungee plugs instead and when you blow out the water no water can return :)

What it make sense to use those for all the spa returns? Or would I could just use it for the last, furthest from the blower? I'm thinking until I get to the very last one, I don't really have to turn the blower off when sealing each one up.
