SWG is glitching really bad. Is it time to replace? If so which model?

I recently bought a house with pool. Still learning all the equipment. I started running the pump and SWG 24/7 for summer. It may have been too much for the SWG or perhaps its just coincidental timing. The lights on the SWG are flashing and the LCD screen is glitching. (See Video) Video of SWG glitching New video by Steven Vaden

Its obviously an old model. So my question is has anyone seen this before? Is there a fix or is it time to replace? If I should replace I notice there a a lot of models to choose from. What is the correct model for my 20000 gallon pool?

Can you turn off the power and then remove the display board and show a picture of the main board.

Reinstall the display board and then turn on the power and see if it is better.

My sincere apologies for the late reply. I didn't realize you had responded. Took off the display PCB reinstalled it and turned it on. I'm getting a low salt reading and inspect cell reading. The cell is only a couple of months old. The temperature of the water via the swg is 72. I'm told that at a certain water temperature the swc will no longer generate chlorine. Is 72 about the time/temp that the swc shuts down?

For AquaRite, move the switch from auto to off and check all of the readings.

Move the switch back to auto and recheck the readings.

Move the switch to off for a minute and then back to auto and recheck the readings.

Switching the unit off and then back on makes the unit reverse polarity.

Report all readings.

What are the first seven characters of the cell and box serial numbers?

What is the actual salinity and how are you measuring it?

What is the T-cell size?

Is the T-cell size set correctly in settings?

1. Its a Hayward Swim Pure Plus. Similar to the AquaRite in terms of how some information is collected using diag but unsure of how the two compare on a 1 to 1 relationship
Readings after auto to off:
a. pool temp, 72
b. cell voltage, 31.9
c. cell current, 0.00
d. desired output, 100p
e. instant salinity, - 0
f. product name, AL - 5
g. software revision, r 1.40
h. default salt display, 2000

2.
Readings after back to auto:
a. pool temp, 72
b. cell voltage, 24.3
c. cell current, 4.05
d. desired output, 100p
e. instant salinity, - 1800
f. product name, AL -5
g. software revision, r 1.40
h. default salt display, 2000

3.
Readings after off for 1 min & back to auto:
a. pool temp, 72
b. cell voltage, 32.1
c. cell current, 4.08
d. desired output, 99p
e. instant salinity, - 1600
f. product name, AL - 5
g. software revision, r 1.40
h. default salt display, 2000

4. I'm clear on how reversing polarity could he helpful. I'm unsure as to whether my unit does that so there was no mention in the owners manual. However it did say that "there is a self cleaning incorporated into the electronic controls logic" however it doesn't mention how to manually engage that self cleaning.

5. Done

6. SWG Cell 3E20261 SWG Control Box 5A0605-1012288

7. Actual Salinity measured by Leslies approx. every 3 weeks. Salt readings over time starting with most recent 3003, 2998, 2934, 2857

8. T-Cell-15

9. In my unit it is my understanding that because of the revision number mentioned above r 1.40, this unit is not one of the ones where you can set the T-CELL size. I did recently replace the T-CELL by taking the old one into Leslies and they sold me this new one.

The cycle is 120 minutes.

After the cell turns off and then back on, the polarity reverses.

For your circuit board, you can have a T-5 or a T-15.

Your jumper is set to T-15.

The numbers look correct.

So, the cell is smaller than a T-15 or the salinity is lower than you think.

Does the cell actually say T-15 on the label?

I recommend the K-1766 salt test kit.
