Pump was given to me. It will also fit my single speedTriStar which is running fine. Confused on the relay where I think thermal protection is usually mounted? Nothing on the internet to clarify this so far.
Also do run and low speed windings appear to ohm out correctly?

What is the motor model #?

Have you tried to run the motor?

It doesn't look like the centrifugal switch is centered over the motor shaft. Did you remove it?

The motor windings appear to be fine. The higher resistance is low speed.

The relay is certainly odd. Someone may have done that because they could not find a thermal limiter replacement. You might be able to rewire it correctly.

Have not tried to run motor. Start switch I pulled to get a better look at wiring. Here is the model number. Tried to pull the end cap but through bolts are frozen.. used Kro oil ..no joy. Motor in good shape spins freely. Relay wiring has me confused.

I don't believe the timer versions of the motor have a capacitor hump (non-CSCR). Plus the sticker on the side makes me think that it did not come with a controller. Also, I would expect any relay to be in the controller and not in the back of the motor. Seems like a kluge to me.

Can you show the run capacitor label?

The relay might be to change the run capacitor from low to high speed.

The wiring diagram seems pretty straightforward.

What questions do you have?

Like to turn this into a simple two-speed using a toggle switch.

You have three wires, one for high speed, one for low speed, one common. The relay is probably for switching the capacitor on low speed so you don't need to do anything with that.

This is the wiring diagram:

Yes. Connect one of the hots to the L2 common directly, then the other hot to the center pole of the switch and then L1 & A to the outer terminals of the switch.

The hots I am referring to are the 240v from the breaker panel. Those wires can be almost any color except green and white.

I will try and find a diagram for you.
