Hi new pool member old pool was a mess and all rusty and was never taken care of by old owner

so I got a new pool oval 12x24 with salt water

my initial question is simple

how often do you

pass the vaccum/backwash/rinse the filter outside the classic the pool is real dirty
’question 2 : I heard thst if the manometer gets to a certain number the pression will be less and a cleanup is required, what number should I check on my manometer and how can I make sure the pressure stays good for the pool

Bonjour! Welcome to Trouble Free Pools.

Is the filter a sand filter? The sand can be deep cleaned and after cleaning you can record what the "clean pressure" value is. Then when that pressure rises 25% you'll know its time to backwash the filter.
Make sure that the pressure gauge reads zero when the pump is "off". If it does not that means your gauge is broken.

Ok thanks and what’s the best way to do a backwash

i Turned off the pool then tried to open my Pump to clean the basket but let’s of water kept coming out


then I put the filter to backwash, started the pump then when I put it back to filter, lots of dirt went into the pool so now my ugly is a bit ugly let’s hope it will all be cleaned by tomorrow

last thing we had a new deck thst is higher then the pool, tried to install stairs


tried to arrange the « hand« to make sure the stairs went down into the pool but it still doesn’t seem to be fully on the pool floor and seems to move a bit, any tips?
 
With pump off...looks like you need to rotate the knob under the skimmer in your case to where water does not constantly flow to the pump. When you remove the top to clean the pump basket....only water you should lose is in the length of pipe from skimmer to pump and what's in the pump basket housing itself I think.
 
So I tried the backwash

the Manometer was at 12 ( when I initially got the pool it was at 10)

did a backwashi for 2 min then rinse for 30sec then back to filter

no dirt was sent in the pool but manometer still at 12
