I have a 3 year old Simplicity DLX 4-Person 20-Jet Plug and Play Spa with Waterfall and Ozone System Hot Tub. I have mastered the TFP method for our new fiberglass pool and now I want to get my hot tub water sparkling as well. My hot tub is 205 gallons and i’m due for a empty/refill and filter replacement. I want to try Ahhsome as well, will the 2 oz amount be plenty? I have always used the Brom start and then used bromine tablets and shock weekly to keep it clean. I keep Liquid Chlorine now for my SWG pool, can I use that to shock my hot tub instead? I’m just trying to make sure i’m doing everything right to make this as simple and easy as the water chemistry in the pool. Thanks!

Hot tub prices have gone up! I only paid $1.415 after wayfair lost my hot tub in transit and gave me 15% off in additional to my 10% coupon.

Hello Apsuhead: You will only use 2 LEVEL Teaspoons of the Ahh-Some gel to do an effective purge. The 2 ounce container has 12 teaspoons in it or enough to purge your tub 6 times. Generally, most people who are aware of how beneficial an actual purge can be, purge twice every year. I recommend 3 purges for your hot tub since the gallonage is lower and the plumbing contamination can build more quickly than a larger gallonage tub. So, you will have enough Ahh-Some gel for 2 years in that little container. Hope this helps.

I was going to say the 2 oz doesn’t last long but then after reading @Ahhsomeguy’s post I realized you have a 200 gallon tub. Ours is 450 so we use more than 2x as much as you will use.

I’ve never used bromine, I only know the basic theory. You can use chlorine, MPS, or ozone to activate bromide ions into hypobromous acid. So to answer your question yes, you can certainly use liquid chlorine to shock a bromine tub. Alternatively you can do what I do and get a SWCG for your spa and run it as a chlorine spa. I use the Saltron Mini. It maintains the FC when we aren’t using the tub and then I manually add liquid chlorine after our (long) soaks to take care of the bather waste.

I ordered the Ahhsome cleaner on ebay last week. It said it was delivered to my mailbox but it wasn’t in there when I got home. I have security cameras and I could tell usps didn’t deliver it to my address. The seller contacted my post office and they checked the gps location of the delivery and said they could tell it was delivered to my address and to contact law enforcement. Liars! I went to another house in my neighborhood with the same house number but different street, and my Ahhsome package was there. This happens repeatedly in our neighborhood.
Anyway, I used Ahhsome today before I emptied and cleaned my hot tub. It worked great! I had lots of sludge come out of the plumbing. I just added a new filter and refilled with water, and it is sparkling like new. Thanks!

I too have a 200gal lifesmart tub (& i ❤️it!) Mine is a round 5 person.
The 2 tbs is plenty for me. After the 1st purge foam dissapates I usually add almost another tbs & run it again before draining. The 2nd purge always produces something for me even if the 1st did not.
Also I ordered that same replacement filter & i feel it does a better job than the original.
