A very naive pool owner here!

Muna, was the pump running before you changed any settings? You'd hear it, or feel water coming out of the returns. If so, put your ET back into service mode and best to leave it alone for now while we wait for Jim. For now, please work on the brand/model/images of the pump instead. Thx.

OK, good. That looks to be your heater, filter and your IntelliChem gear. Now we need that big black thing bolted to the concrete pad, with the two big PVC pipes leading in and out of it. That's your main filter pump. Let me know if there are more than one of those. Does it look new? Do you know, did the pool guy install that (which would account for the $550 charge).

Hey Stenner man, thanks for checking in. Her Stenner is part of the IntelliChem, yes? Is that stock from Pentair, or after-market? Would there be two of those? Or only one if there's an SWG? I don't see the SWG yet.

Muna, can you pull the brand and model number from the big black pump? Is there only one of those? Maybe post a picture or two of it, closer up? Thanks.

EXCELLENT! Both your efforts and pics and the gear. You've got an SWG, yay! That is a really good thing! It was hiding in the other pics! And, Jim will know, but I think that Sta-Rite pump is compatible with your EasyTouch. Good job. Your pool is fully automated, but is currently not taking advantage of all that. We'll have to sort out why, but for now, if the pump is running, leave the equipment as is.

Can you see a model # for the SWG? You have a Pentair IntelliChlor. Just looking for its size. It would be something like IC-40 or IC-60, something like that. It might be on the bottom, so don't sweat that for now.

I really gotta go now, but if the pump is running then we need to get your water chemistry in order. How are you doing with that?

I see you're still in Auto mode. Your SWG seems to be working. I recant. Leave that alone now, in Auto. And the cell is producing chlorine for you (cool, right?), which means your pump is running. All good. Leave it as is.

Its IC60.
Thank you again. The test strip was OK yesterday, PH (7.8) but the panel shows a Ph of 8.2. I will get the Taylor 2006 kit tonight and will test it. I appreciate your help!!

Do you see anything anywhere that looks like this? It may be a ways away from the other equipment. It's about 2 feet tall. Is so, is there any yellowish liquid in it?hopper.jpg

FYI: you've got a saltwater pool! (And that's a good thing, too.) So while you're studying in Pool School, you'll see references to "SWG Pool" or "saltwater pool" or "non-SWG pool". You've got an SWG Pool, often referred to as a saltwater pool.

BTW, you have some of the best pool equipment money can buy.

Well, if you're comfortable doing so. Put some glasses on, safety glasses if you have some. Wear some gloves until you get more comfortable handling it. That might be your acid reservoir and it could be full of potent muriatic acid. Not too bad for skin, but definitely very bad for lungs and eyeballs. Don't breath in fumes, don't let is splash on you or anywhere near your eyes. No kids around. Or leave it alone for now.

Post a pic of it, please.

I will wait to open this for now. My test kit just arrived and ph is 8.0. What should I do? muriatic acid? Thank you.

@Muna Make sure you get the Taylor 2006 not 2005. The TF-100 includes that taylor kit. With a salt pool and a robot you will honestly have very little to do in daily or weekly maintenance. At first you will want to test daily to see what your average chlorine usage is so you can set your SWG accordingly. Muriatic Acid is really all you need on hand to start to lower the PH is needed. I do keep liquid chlorine to raise my free chlorine quicklybefore and after we have a high bather load. You also will want the k1766 taylor kit to test salt levels as the basic kit doesn't come with it. Even though your salt water generator gives you a salt level it is not as accurate as the test kit.

When your kit arrives run all the basic tests to get the hang of it and post them in this thread. We will help you out adjusting levels if you need it.
Thank you for the response. I got the "Taylor kit 2006" today. The ph is 8.0. I am going to put 4oz muriatic acid (that's what pool math recommended, ph goal is 7.6)? What else should I check? Thank you again.
