First season with my pool and I gotta admit I didn’t realize there would be this many bugs! I use the recommended test kit and keep my levels within spec. Do I take my water to a pool store to test for phosphates or is this just part of the pool maintenance routine? I took care of a couple of boatmen these last two days and everything I’ve read point to this not being a good sign. FC is usually between 4-5. PH 7.6. We did have a ton of rain lately which raised the pool level above the skimmer and it took a day or two to drop back down. Is that the cause?

Thanks yes I can deal with the bugs just wanted to make sure I didn't have a bigger, underlying issue. I think I need to brush the corners more frequently b/c that's where the activity seems to be and that's the one area the pool robot isn't hitting.

All life is cyclic. Insect populations rise and fall through the seasons. Predator and parasite populations rise and fall relative to the host populations. The bottom line, this will pass, our ability to control these biological upswings is limited and all involve unintended consequences.
