Too much salt

Make sure the titrant bottle is vertical when adding drops. Be sure the drop is fully formed on the tip and falls off under gravity, not because you shook the bottle. Drop rate should be roughly one drop per second or so. You stop titrating as soon as the color turns from pale yellow to brick red. You should see the red color flash from yellow to red and back to yellow, that’s how you know you are close. As soon as the red color holds, you are done. You are not trying to aim for a specific shade of red.

That could be a possibility on the drops. I will test again tomorrow
thanks

OK. Looks like you are testing correctly. As stated above, you are looking for it to flash a change in color. I had an issue where the reagent was a little old and was causing high readings because it needed more reagent. What is the date on the reagent?

Also, what is the salt level of your fill water?

Let's see how your testing comes in tomorrow. I use circupool for my pools and they love 4000ppm. I'm just thinking how sure are you about the 12k capacity. If you had 5500 gallons which equates to 22ppm/lb salt, then multiply 22 x 200= 4400 +600 =5000ppm.

Matt, Thank You, Thank You Thank You. That was it. I wasnt letting the drips get big enough to fall off. The reading I just got was 2800 ppm, which is right where I was aiming. I need to add 59 more pounds to hit target of 3500. I would also like to thank everyone else that offered suggestions, this place is great. I appreciate everyone putting up with my learning cure.

Thanks again
Eric...
