Pool Hose Discoloration

Years ago I had a hose crack while on vacation, so now I replace them annually. I have 2 hoses - one from the skimmer to the pump, and the other from the filter back to the discharge into the pool. I buy the high pressure hoses that are grey in color.

This year the return hose from the filter is turning "clear". In other words the grey color is gradually fading. I wonder if this is a problem?

Its an above ground pool, I use straight bleach to sanitize. The water is perfect (meets all the TFP guidelines for chemical properties) and it has been hovering around 80F.

The only change this year was to add a new automatic chlorinator (after the filter and before the discolored discharge.) However, I have had one in that position for 20 years and this never happened before.

Any thought would be appreciated.

Its an above ground pool in a northern climate. The pump and related hoses are removed to the basement in the winter.

It's not UV related. The skimmer to pump hose shows no discoloration. The discolored hose is white now at the inlet end and grey at the discharge end, with a gradual color change along its length.

The chlorinator uses pellets. Someone told me it has acid in it. Could that be discoloring the hose?

My only concern is that the hose might disintegrate before fall and cause the pool to drain.

Yes, trichlor. I only use that for the short period that we are on vacation and nobody is home to mind the pool. ALL other times its bleach because that's what i learned on this site.

Still trying to figure out if the hose is going to disintegrate...
