So test results for salt has always bothered me. I posted this issue before and I understand that the different methods have a large +/- range, and to just make sure that I go by what my Hayward Aqua Plus says (which I do). So I found a 3000ppm salt solution on Amazon and figured I'd post the results here. I know people consider drop test kits to be the best, but it wasn't my case for salt testing. Just wanted to share my results. At least they all track each other with an increase or decrease in salt.

Current Hayward Aqua Plus readout = 2800 ppm

3000 ppm Salt standard:
eSeasongear SALT-3050 ($38 Amazon) = 2920 ppm
Taylor K-1766 test kit = 3400 ppm

When did you stop with the Taylor salt test?

The end point is then it first changes from and does not go back to yellow. If you add drops to the brick red color, that is too far.
This is the only test where you do not keep adding drops until the color change stops.

Maybe this post of mine could be helpful? I struggled in the exact same way as you all.

Getting ready for SWG

But the following post, #4 by Matt, has some good info about the color change and about a more accurate test (25ml sample)...

Caution! (And advice.) My interpretation of the result of that test in post #3 were incorrect, because I was doing the math wrong, which wasn't caught until much later in that thread by another TFP expert. Point being: in addition to getting the color transition right, make sure you're doing the math right!

Before I added salt, I was doing the 25ml (80ppm / drop) version of the test to figure how much salt to add. But once you are up around 3000ppm, no really need for that accuracy.
