CYA standard solution test result, can I extrapolate?

I have seen other threads with people in the same case, just want to share my experience.

I just received the 50ppm CYA standard solution from TFTestkits and in my first test I only can not see the black dot at 30ppm, I have seen the Taylor videos and the photos with samples and it corresponds to what I see as 30.

I have tried with different lighting outdoor and indoor and always the same result.

I assume that the sample is correct, with this experience should I add 20ppm to my regular CYA measures?

Thank you!

Some photos for your consideration:

I have not had any reports of a bad batch of CYA standard solution. The CYA test is, by far, the most subjective of the tests. A couple suggestions. Let the solution mix at least 60 seconds before pouring into view tube. Remember there is a +/- 10% percent error of margin within industry standards for these tests. Test with your back towards the sun and hold tube at waist level.

Thank you very much for the answer I have been doing that, the test is useful anyway, in these conditions I asume that I should not look to have no visibility of the black dot and I will look more for something similar to what I am measuring in these photos as 40.
I do not need extra precision as I have to add CYA regularly due to the heavy rains that we have here out of the dry season.

Perhaps I was dreaming? Or maybe it was from a different vendor.

Are you performing the test correctly? Outside, full sun at your back, hold the tube at waist level and *glance* in. If it takes longer than a glance for you to see the dot, it’s not there.

I think that I am doing it correctly, I might be in the edge regarding the 40ppm reading, but in the 50ppm without doubt the dot is there in any lighting condition and with a short glance.
