I have a 21ft by 4ft above ground pool
I opened it a week ago last Thursday and still can't get it clear and blue :(

Opened as normal, vacuumed all chems were great, pool still green
changed sand in filter, pool still green
tested water and had very high phosphates, used 3L of Phosfree - the next morning it was turning blue but was still cloudy. By supper it was green again.
This morning it's neon green again.Chemicals are great

I just don't want to keep throwing money into a pool that will never get blue. Help please

Welcome to TFP! First question we always have to ask here ... how are you testing your water? If you're going to the pool store for testing and advise, that's going to be the biggest issue.

Hi, welcome to TFP! Please post a complete set of current test results. Our opinion of good test results seldom agrees with the pool store's opinion, so we really need to see the results to help us trouble shoot your problem. Our methods have cleared 1000s of swampy pools over the years and we would love to help you clear yours.

Hello and Welcome to TFP! We can help you get that cleaned up.

The phosfree is not going to be enough to kill the algae unfortunately. You are going to need to increase the chlorine level to do that.
Please post the test results you have and the test method you used. It is very likely your chlorine level is too low for your CYA.
Please take the time to list your pool and equipment info in your Signature. It will help us know what you have.
Head over to PoolSchool and read up in the Getting Started section. Also the ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry.

Hey
Thanks for the replies,I didn't get back here yesterday cause I was sitting in a corner crying lol

Yes the pool places were testing my water,I have to get a good testing kit for myself
I tried Metal free yesterday, didn't make any difference at all. It just lowered to FC
Shocked it again last night, looks a tiny bit better but still can't see bottom and no matter how much I vacuum and scrub I'm still getting leaves, were the heck are they coming from, wish I could see the bottom on the pool!
I'm to the point of draining it :( Don't really want to spend $300 on water but I've spent that already on trying to fix this problem.

Please, no more solid forms of chlorine. Use only liquid bleach to add chlorine to your pool. You can use regular, unscented bleach from your favorite store, store brand is good. Look for sodium hypochlorite, that is the active chemical you need.

While you are waiting for your test kit to arrive, each day add 1 gallon of bleach if 8% or 2-3 gallons if there is no % on the bottle label. I know up in Canada it can be difficult to get the stronger percentages. This will at least keep the algae from getting worse.

We can let you know if you need to drain based on they CYA after you test.

Just try to do the best you can with the leaf rake. The more you can get out, the less chlorine you will need.
