Housewarming Party in 4 Days! - Milky Blue Water

Thanks guys for all the advice. We had the party this past Friday & it was a success. We're having another pool party this weekend so I'm maintaining it the best I can. We can see pretty much all of the bottom of the pool, except there is a small debris pile around the main drain that is too...

Housewarming Party in 4 Days! - Milky Blue Water

Okay I vacuumed today and you can pretty much see the bottom in the shallow end and some in the deep end. It's blue..certainly not as clear as I'd like but at least manageable for the party. But now it's raining..should I shock it again once it's done raining?

Ok, The pool store is closed for the day. Will I still be able to filter the water enough to clear it up until I can get the gauge replaced?

Housewarming Party in 4 Days! - Milky Blue Water

Ok the pool calculator is showing that I need 3.8 jugs (182 oz) of bleach to bring it to a target FC of 22. Would 4 jugs be okay? Or should I do 3 and a quart? Also, do I add these in all at once or one at a time, an hour apart?

Ok, I cut the pump off so I could raise the water level (it had to dropped below the bottom screw of the skimmer faceplate) and the gauge's needle didn't go down to 0. I'm sorry, it's at 160 psi, not 60 and it goes down from there. I rinse for about a minute after backwashing for 2-4 minutes...

Housewarming Party in 4 Days! - Milky Blue Water

So I'm at 10 now..and I need to get to 17 or 22. How do I do this? Obviously I add more bleach, but how much more if I'm using 1.42 gal jugs that are 6% bleach. The pool store gives me this print out every time I go and it's divided into two columns, one is current, and the other one is ideal...

Housewarming Party in 4 Days! - Milky Blue Water

Thank you guys for all your help! It's a lot to take in, but I'm trying to get the hang of it. Last night, following everyone's advice, I used the Bleach calculator and added 4 (182 oz, 1.42 gal) jugs of bleach. Today, I wanted to see how it did, and it's extremely cloudy & can't see the...

Housewarming Party in 4 Days! - Milky Blue Water

Thanks for your quick replies. I read the article and don't have a FAS-DPD test kit. Just the PH and CL test kit with the red and yellow coloring to add drops to. Currently, my CYA is 40, and according to the chart, it needs to be at a target of 5, and 16 to shock. Should I add all 10 lbs...

Housewarming Party in 4 Days! - Milky Blue Water

Hello all, I'm new to this forum and after browsing the Pool School information available, I decided to post since I'm running out of ideas and so are the people at the pool store. My husband and I purchased a foreclosure property in November of last year that has a 18 x 36, 25,000 gallon...
