Pump recommendation for still working motor

Thanks Dirk. For this discussion, please ignore my signature--this thread is actually for my father-in-law's pump/pool. I don't have all the specifics, but it's a ~45,000gal non-SWG plaster pool with hot tub and some water features. It was built with two pumps. In any case, this is an excellent...

Pump recommendation for still working motor

Hi all, I am helping my father-in-law choose a new pump to pair with the motor in these pictures. The current pump is very old and has a crack in the housing. The motor is also quite old but still runs despite the rust, so since funds are tight it would be preferable to replace only the pump...

    Vacuum recommendation

The someone was the owner from my pool company--I had them out to inspect a few spots in the coping, and they suggested it after noticing dirt and finer debris accumulating on my pool steps and a few areas on the pool bottom. He wasn't trying to sell me one; just giving pool care advice. Perhaps...

    Vacuum recommendation

Hello! I've owned my pool for about 1.5 years now and am still learning all the time. Someone recently recommended I get a pool vac (already have a Polaris 280; they meant a manual vacuum). I see most of the threads in this section are for automatic pool vacs. Can anyone recommend how I should...

OEM Hayward heater header gasket not fitting

Just to close the loop on this, I was able to get the gasket seated after putting a generous coat of silicone in the groove it sits in on the header and manipulating it until no part was sticking out. It was also a major help to not have to worry about the thermostat falling off while situating...

OEM Hayward heater header gasket not fitting

I'll give the ice water soak a shot and try some sealant as you suggested. Just checked the manual--you're right, the flange on the thermostat should be behind the bypass! I was obsessing so much over the o-ring I missed that. Thank you James.

OEM Hayward heater header gasket not fitting

Thanks John & James. I did try the boiling one of the o-rings twice (about a minute each time) but did not notice any shrinking afterward. After researching more on that trick, I understand most the shrinking happens from lost oil/etc. which a new o-ring wouldn't have. I can try some vaseline to...

OEM Hayward heater header gasket not fitting

Hello! While redoing the plumbing lead into my Hayward HD400IDL2 heater this weekend to fix a small drip leak, I thought to replace the heater's bypass valve and flow control thermostat which required removal of the header. The bypass valve kit came with a new gasket, but it was too large by...
