Contractor Recommendations for Pool Remodel in Dallas

We plan to remodel our 1997 plaster pool in the Dallas area. We will not be replacing the coping, but we will need new tile, plaster (thinking about quartz or pebble), an upgrade to LED lights, and possibly adding a saltwater chlorine generator. I have started looking at contractors, but would...

Replacing 1.5 HP Pool Pump with Dual Speed or Variable Speed

Hmmmmm...Now you have me thinking about replacing the motor and pump parts. Then, I wouldn't have to re-plumb a new pump. I need to check my aqualink and see how many available relays I have. Do I need a relay for each motor speed that I want to automate? I saw an instruction manual for the...

Replacing 1.5 HP Pool Pump with Dual Speed or Variable Speed

Thank you, both. I have been happy with the strength of the spa jets, especially when using the blower. There are some additional parts that need to be replaced on the impeller as well. Because of that, I figured this would be a good time to replace the pump with something more efficient...

Replacing 1.5 HP Pool Pump with Dual Speed or Variable Speed

I need to replace my 1.5 HP pool pump. I am looking to replace it with a dual speed pump or variable speed pump. I have an older Aqualink RS (from 1996) that I would like to upgrade to the iAqualink when I replace the pump. First, I have read several posts on here about the cost savings...

    How to repair loose tiles

I have several tiles that have popped off or were loose that we have removed around the spa area of my pool. I have cleaned off the backs of all of the tiles and the concrete. I think the pool will need to be remodeled (tile and plaster) in the next year or so, but I am hoping to make it a...

Multiport Valve Gasket- Lube or Caulk?

Thanks everyone! I used small beads of silicone caulk to hold the gasket in place. I have also heard that you should move the valve in the same direction each time, so I will continue to do that. Hopefully this will keep my gasket in place and working for a while!

Multiport Valve Gasket- Lube or Caulk?

I am replacing the gasket in my Sta-Rite Multiport valve and have received differing advice from 2 pool stores about how to install the gasket. One store's employee said that I should lube the spider gasket. A different store's employee said that I should use caulk to set the gasket. His...

    Laars Series 2 Heater Repair

Thank you for the advise about the making sure the current part fits my heater. I'll check with Laars before buying a new part. I wouldn't have thought about that! Spishex, I'll have my husband take a look at our heater to determine if there is electricity running to the heater, and let you...

    Laars Series 2 Heater Repair

We have a Teledyne Laars Series 2 gas heater on our pool that stopped heating one night. I just had a pool repair man come out to look at it and diagnose the problem. He said that we need a new "temperature control board". The price quoted was $370 for the part and $170 for labor. Is this...

    Question about Teledyne Laars heater

Thank you! I won't touch anything on the heater then. I started wondering because when I felt the water coming out of the returns in the pool it didn't feel as hot as the water coming out of the returns when we are heating just the spa. It seems to take about 1 hour per degree to heat the...

    Question about Teledyne Laars heater

I am heating our pool for the first time this season. We have only owned the pool/house for a year and heated the pool on a couple of occasions and we heat the spa regularly. When I heat the pool or spa I turn on the heater and set the temperature from our Aqualink system in the house and I...

Please help me choose a SWG

Thanks Strannik! Where is the supporter's specials section? I can't seem to find it on the site. Thanks Dave! It does seem like there are lots of happy Autopilot customers here, which says alot. Can anyone way in on going with the Aquapure for the sole reason of using Aqualink? Are there...
