Using 3" trichlor pucks in Liquidator

So the best bet is to replace the rainbow chlorinator so I can use up the pucks then go back to the liquidator with Aldi's bleach.

Using 3" trichlor pucks in Liquidator

I have quite a few 3" trichlor pucks left over since my auto chlorinater broke; can I use them in my liquidator instead of liquid bleach so I can use them up? My CYA now is 30 ppm so using pucks to raise it to 45 or so seems desirable.

    MURIATIC ACID AND BORAX

I am glad I checked back in with you folks. I had 8 boxes of borax ready to go in the pool yesterday, but now I think I will put them back in the case. My borate test strips should be here soon, so I will wait to find out what my borates are now before adding any more borax. I was impatient...

    MURIATIC ACID AND BORAX

How this all started is my well water has a TA of 270 when I tested it straight out of the well. I had a heck of an algae problem last year and added a pile of dichlor to kil the algae on the recommendation of my pool co. This of course ran my CYA to 120, which brought me here at TFP to start...

    MURIATIC ACID AND BORAX

I am ready to close my pool and wanted to adust my chemistry before the closing. I pumped out enough water to drain my lines and have 47,000 gal left in the pool. My TA has been high all year and I want to get it down now to about 100-120. Current readings are: FC 7.5, CC.5, Ph 7.2, TA 140...

    FC, Algae and Phosphate issues

Just a note of support from someone who has been there and paid as much as you have. I lost control of my pool last year due to a trip followed by a death in family. Over $2000 spend on Phos Free ( levels varied from 2000+ to under 200), chlorine and non-chlorine shock, 50# pails of dichlor...

    Flooding

Bob, I will see if I can figure out how to post a pix Today's #'s are: FC 6.5, CC 0, pH 7.5, TA 170, CH 300, CYA 50, 74F adding acid and borax to lower TA while keeping pH at 7.2 or higher, heavy rain and had to pump some water out so skimmers work must have lowered the CH. I was away...

    Flooding

The high TA makes the water hazy or cloudy. In the past, when I get the TA down below 90-100 the water is as clear as I have ever seen it. I can look at the bottom of the 10' dive well and think it is only a few feet deep. That is my goal. Once that happens then I think I will look more into...

    Shocking and Solar Covers

Should you keep your solar cover off for the night after you shock your pool? I used to use dichlor or cal hypo to shock my pool and recently switched to 6% bleach. I felt the cover may be harmed by the higher chlorine levels so I leave it off for the night, but the night temps here have been...

    Flooding

today #'s are: FC 4.5, CC 0, ph 7.8 and still aerating, TA 270 so I added 1 1/2 gal muriatic acid, CH 350, CYA 40, 78 F. Water is very clean but hazy. Should sparkle once the TA gets below 100. In The Swim will take back the dichlor and soda ash and Aqua Superstore will take back my 2 new...

    Flooding

added 8 more jugs 6% bleach tonight. tgramm - the nature 2 is plumbed in line between the filter and the heater with the same 1.5 piping used in the system. I did not put the new cartridge in it as I will return it for a refund if I can.

    Flooding

Just did today's test and still adding water, about 8K gal to add yet to full. FC 2.5, CC 1, TC 3.5, ph 7.7, TA 270, CH 350 today( must have been too tired yesterday and messed up my earlier CH test), CYA 60, Temp 64F. Tgramm, I did find one fitting on the near side skimmer suction line to...

How Bad is a 28.8K gal 12 hr Turnover Rate for 55K gal pool

Can anyone think of any likely circumstances where I will need a higher turnover rate? I have generally thought you can keep your pool clean using a proper filter and a small amount of chemicals or a poor filter and A LOT of chemicals. IOW, if I am just getting by under normal circumstances...

    Flooding

I am doing my final pump and refill now. Current TF numbers are: TC 0, ph 7.7 and aerating + Borax, TA 270 (yep that's some hard water in that well), CH 130, CYA 90, 68% F. I ordered 10 cases of Borax ( 285 lbs or 4560 oz) from Wal-Mart and have 13 gal 31.45% muriatic acid. Wife wants to...
