Rooftop solar pool heater leaking even while turned off

Not sure what a hand valve is. The valve that opens to send water to the rooftop heater has a motor on it and is controlled by the heater temperature controller. There is a check valve in the pipe coming down from the roof.

Rooftop solar pool heater leaking even while turned off

I have a rooftop solar heater, not sure which brand. It was already here when I moved in a couple years ago. I noticed that during the past couple days there is water coming off my roof any time the pool pump is on. The heater is turned off, and the valve is closed. When I turn the pump off I...

    Intellichlor IC-40 salt level rising

Thank you for the detailed response. I had not considered that the fill water would be adding salt, the pool store dudes say nothing can cause the salt level to increase, but you are right. The water quality report for Phoenix indicates that the salt level is between 75 - 150 ppm. And with the...

    Intellichlor IC-40 salt level rising

The salt level appears to be rising on it's own! I converted my pool to salt about a year and a half ago and had no problems until the end of June when the high salt indicator came on. Pool store tested salt level at 4800, so I drained and refilled about 750 gallons to lower salt to 4500. High...

High chlorine levels and Ph test accuracy; and high CYA too

Re: High chlorine levels and Ph test accuracy; and high CYA I took the floaters out about a week ago and have been using 10% liquid chlorine to maintain FC since then. The Ph test is showing 7.4 and it is no longer dropping as it was with the floaters in, so it must have been the acid from the...

High chlorine levels and Ph test accuracy; and high CYA too

Re: High chlorine levels and Ph test accuracy; and high CYA These are some good ideas. The tarp looks pretty crazy, not sure I can do that one but Dave's method with the two hoses seems reasonable. Is the pool store guy right when he says I will damage the pool if I drain it when the temp is...

High chlorine levels and Ph test accuracy; and high CYA too

Re: High chlorine levels and Ph test accuracy; and high CYA I was waiting until the weather cools down to drain it because the pool store dudes said it would damage the pool to drain it if the temperature was above 80 degrees. Is it not true? I diluted the CYA sample before adding the...

High chlorine levels and Ph test accuracy; and high CYA too

Re: High chlorine levels and Ph test accuracy; and high CYA Thanks for the quick response! How should I compensate for the FC level in order to get an accurate Ph measurement? When I first moved into the house, about 6 weeks ago, the pool had zero chlorine. I hadn't found out about TFP yet, so...

High chlorine levels and Ph test accuracy; and high CYA too

I just moved into a house in Phoenix Arizona with a 13,000 gallon in-ground pebbletech pool and I'm learning how to take care of it, been reading a lot of info here on the site. I'm pretty sure I need to drain and refill but can't do it until the weather cools down. I'm wondering if there is...
