    Pentair Quad DE filter sizing

Quad 100 DE on a 28K pool, 13 years on original carts. No backwash capability, tear down and clean 2-3/yr. Bigger is better. 25 gpm @ 1-2 PSI post cleaning. I'm sure one of the cartridges will suffer a tear but still waiting. Was told by Pentair rep that Unicel provided the carts to Pentair back...

SWG Size - 28k Gallon Pool in New Jersey

I have a 26K plaster pool DFW area for 13 years. I run an IC40 between 20-60% depending on the month. Pump run times from 8hrs daily in the winter up to 14 in the summer. Works just fine.

Pleatco vs Unicel, any recent experience?

I don't have 'recent' experience with changing out carts. But I do have ongoing experience with my original Unicel carts in my 11 year old quad de100 filter. I have done 3 overnight TSP soaks throughout the years. I don't have backwash capability so I do clean them 2-3 times/yr when I start...

    IC40 in cold weather

I re-installed my IC40 the first week of March, in the Dallas area. At 55 degree water it was reading 2900 ppm and making chlorine. My drops test was 3100. Now my water temp is in the low 60's and the unit reads around 3000 to 3200. This unit appears to work at slightly colder temps than my...

is a ic60 enough for my pool

I have an IC40 on a 26k pool. I rarely run higher than 40% on a 14 hr. run cycle during peak use in July/August. I keep the cya at 70-80 and run at least a 4-6 FC.

    Is this a general rule?

My cell's salt measurement almost always reflects a more accurate number in relation to my drops test after I acid wash. Especially when water temp is around 76-78.

    Is this a general rule?

I live in Denton and have been using an ECG since June 2007. I pull it out early December due to the fact that the water is too cold for it to work. I install it typically the first 2 weeks in March because the water is warm enough (55+) to work reliably. My unit is a Pentair IC40. Works great...

    Cleaning SWG cells

Remember the swg salt reading will increase as the pool water warms up. I only trust my Taylor test numbers unless the water temp is 76-78 degrees. That is the point where my IC40 salt readings matches my drops test numbers. By doing so I avoid adding too much salt; which I've done more than...

    variable speed pump ?

I've been running an Intelliflow VS for 7 yrs on a 26,000 gallon pool. I use it to run sheer descents and a pressure cleaner. Zero issues once I dialed in the proper rates. PB couldn't figure it out. Costs about $6/month year round. Love it.

Kreepy Krauly Legend VS. Legend II

I've been using a legend II with my intelliflo vs pump for 5 1/2 yrs with very good results. I have a dedicated cleaner line and adjust the pump to 15 gpm for cleaning mode. PSI is around 12-20# depending on the dirt loading on the filter. I hand vac the pool 2-3 times/yr before cleaning my...

Keep a Pool using only Robots - myth or fact?

To echo what was said above, I run less than 1/2 turnover from Dec through March and less than 1 even during the peak of the swim season. After 5 years I'm yet to experience anything but clear water and no algae. I do use a vs pump with long run times at low rates and an ecg for sanitizing. My...
