At the end of last summer, my cya was at least 150. All winter long, I was dreading this summer and having to drain my pool. BUT; this summer my cya dropped to 20 over the winter. So I guess it's possible to get rid of cya without draing your pool

Your pool is almost a duplicate of mine. Don't drive yourself crazy with the light and algae that might be behind it. My light has about six screws and I was not going to pull it out. The guy who installed my SWG told me to leave it alone and stop being so precise with the numbers. I did, and...

Better in the long run to get the SWG fixed. I switched to salt this year and except for a little lag in getting the SWG to catch up with my zero chlorine , I'll never go back to bleach, pucks, new water cyclers , etc.

There is more than one screw on the light fixture it looks like there may be 4 or six. Can't get to it. Might have the guy who opens and closes my pool to do it. Everything else is pristine. Wouldn't the chlorine at 24 ppm get into the light fixture and kill algae ? I'm so upset with this...

Ok. I brought pool up to slam level ( 24) This afternoon. Took my OCLT reading at 8:30 pm and it is 8.5. I'm dreading tomorrow morning. Could 16 ppms be gone already? It was a very sunny hot day today. Pool is crystal clear tonight

Yes, my pool is crystal clear and really has been for weeks thanks. So do you mean just do the OCLT and not test before this evening?

Can't find this answer anywhere: how long after initial dose of slam should I test the level . And how long after that?

Yes I do see it. What happened was I never changed pool math to reflect correct jug size. It was at 64. Duh!

Now is 1 And target is 24. - - - Updated - - - Don't know why I'm saying 64oz. I am putting in one gallon jugs. Told u in getting nutty

Ill check again. I hope I'm right on the 7 gallons of 64 oz 12.5% chlorine. Looked at pool math again now it says 6 gallons or 13 64oz jugs. I'm getting nuts now

Ok did that. A bought 16 gallons of 12.5 liquid chlorine. Just added 7. I checked my pool light and it's bolted in. So I cleaned around as best I could. Will continue testing and maintaining the level

So I am going to need 7 gallons of 12.5 liquid chlorine to slam. Do I add that all at once ?
