This is the shallow end of my pool. The plaster wore away where the dark spots are and there is a run off sloping down going towards the deep end.

That makes a lot of sense. I could understand that plaster can degrade overtime but found it odd that it would degrade in this way. This company also did our pool closing last year and maybe they were in a rush. I appreciate the input. Thank You.

Would using more then the recommended amount be a bad thing. According to CYA chart I should get my FC to 31. If I went a little over that would that mess up or stain my pool?

I don't have a SWG the CYA is probably elevated because I shocked my pool a few times to get rid of algae using the chlorine granules per recommendation of my local pool store. This was before I read up on CYA. As for Ocean State, nearest one is about 40 mins away.

Didn't realize the pool would need that much chlorine. I just started converting to bleach not too long ago. Before I used the pucks but read about the CYA causing problems down the road so i started using bleach. I guess I'll go back to pool math and redo my calculations.
