    Algae starting?

Thanks for all of the help. you were spot on! I had to slam for 48 hours, but the overnight drop in Cl was zero and no CC. I just adjusted the pH and the Cl is still about 9ppm, but it should drift down. I added one tab (floater) of Cl to increase my CYA and I plan to do a filter clean on...

    Algae starting?

Will do. By the way, after raising the FC per slamming instructions, I rechecked 8 hours later and it dropped by 10 ppm, I've just added more Cl and have the pump running 24 hours. I also brushed the sides and vacuumed the spa. I think I just might have any algae on the run. This is all odd...

    Algae starting?

One more question...can I raise the CYA with a floater and tabs? I'm hesitant to do that as it got me in trouble in the first place. If I do that, how long before retesting the CYA? Thanks

Thank you for that. I'll begin by adjusting the pH.

    Algae starting?

Since draining and refilling (April) to remove my very high CYA levels, I switched from tabs to liquid pool chlorine for the pool. At times I see green (yikes) inside the umbrella receivers that are under water. The pool also uses a lot of muriatic acid and I struggle to get the pH anywhere near...

    Help with pool water issues.

I am using bleach. The trichlor was at start up after a refill. No other chemicals have been added since, with the exception of liquid chlorine and muriatic acid.

    Help with pool water issues.

Pool has been drained and refilled. Got a chance to seal under the boulders that intrude into the pool edge, as well as, seal between the tiles and pool deck. I had a pool person come in to acid wash some heavy duty calcium deposits, again where the boulders fo the wall fall meet the pebble tec...

    Help with pool water issues.

Now that water replacement is suggested, aside from using a pump, etc., what is a safe method? eg, drain 30%, refill, run pump, drain X%, refill start pump, etc. or drain the entire pool and refill? What precautions are there with both procedures? If partial drain and refill, what chemicals to...

    Help with pool water issues.

Results of TF 100 kit Hello again. Not sure if I need to start a new post or go back to the previous, so bear with me. Previously, I wrote advising that I had dismissed my pool man after 2 years and I submitted results for my pool that were not from the TF 100 test kit. As an fyi, I timed my...

Thanks everyone. I actually ordered that kit based on what TFP recommended when I first read about pool care on this site. The kit hasn't arrived yet but when it does, I will test again and re submit.

    Help with pool water issues.

After just dismissing my pool man, I am about to begin handling my own pool maintenance. I purchased Hach AquaChek 7 test strips which revealed so many issues, I'm not sure where to start. I have an in ground, pebbletec free form pool, of 10,000 gallons and attached infinity spa of 900 gallons...
